Jeff Probst: “Here on the beautiful island of Futuna is where 16 strangers begin the journey of a lifetime. This island deep in the Pacific Ocean is known for its gorgeous coastline and is a great destination for tourists, but this is no vacation. Here is where these complete strangers will have to interact to build a new society and battle the elements and each other to survive. They must learn to adapt, or be voted out of the game. In the end, only one will remain to claim the title of Sole Survivor. 39 days! 16 people! 1 Survivor!”
A boat pulls up onto the beach and drops off the first 8 castaways.
Alexis a student, Kayley a theme park worker, Kenny a lifeguard, Lisa a stay-at-home mother, Matthew unemployed, Mitch a nude real-estate agent, Rhameen a construction worker, and Rosie an attourney get off of the boat and are directed by Jeff onto the red mat.
The helicopter lands and Alexander a graphic artist, Devin a carpenter, Jordan a journalist, Joseph a funeral director, Lea a pageant coach, Leanne a comedian, Nicole an aspiring actress, and Shayla a receptionist jump out and are lead to the yellow mat.
Jeff: “Before you guys head out to your camps, how about a reward challenge?”
Everyone cheers.
Jeff: “This isn’t just your regular reward challenge, only one person will be playing, and that won’t be for just this reward challenge, this will be for every one of them.” *Everyone is shocked* “Much like from Survivor: San Juan Del Sur, each tribe will elect one person from their tribe to compete in the reward challenge. The winner, you guessed it, wins the reward. The reward is a big one; a machete, flint, and a choice of an extra bag of rice or beans.” Everyone claps “This challenge is rather simple. The two players will be holding a pole with buckets of water at each end. In 5 minute increments, I will add more water to the buckets. The last one standing wins. Choose who you want to compete.”
Jeff: “Well I can say for everyone that was unexpected. Sibu come get your reward.” *Jordan and Alexander run and get the reward.* “These are the maps to your camps. Sibu, you head left, Aoba, you head right.”
~*SIBU*~ Day 1
Everyone group hugs and thanks Devin for such an amazing performance at the reward challenge. Devin says don’t mention it and everyone gets started on the shelter and camp.
Once the coast was clear, Devin looks around in the bag of rice and finds a clue to the hidden immunity idol. He laughs and shoves it in his pocket. Right when closes the bag of rice, Alexander and Jordan go up to him. They say they need to talk to him in private.
Alexander: “Hey Devin, me and Jordan were thinking, and we want to get a dominate alliance started. Your performance at the immunity proved you were a great candidate. What do you say?
Everyone walks up to the beach and sigh. All they have is one bag of rice and a pot. Rhameen knows what he did was unacceptable and makes a public apology. Everyone says it’s fine and they all agree they need to get started around camp.
Mitch looks for the idol and Lisa and Alexis catch him. Alexis shouts out “Hey Mitch!” without knowing what he was doing. Mitch turns around and tries to cover up.
Mitch runs back and huddles the group of guys. He tells them that Lisa and Alexis caught him looking for the idol and that they should target them first.
Nicole starts talking to Shayla about their personal life. Nicole talks about how she grew up in a small town in Washington and having little growing up, which is a lie. Shayla doesn’t but it.
Shayla follows Joseph on the walk. They start talking and Joseph starts to cry. Shayla comforts him and tells him of her story and how she had to overcome things. She says he will overcome this just like she will.
Everyone is up and talking. Kayley decides she will try and cook from rice. Kayley manages to get a fire started from Alexis’s glasses so she can cook rice.
Lisa: “Woah Kayley, I think you’re burning the rice.”
Kayley: “Oh no! Hurry get me something to scoop it out with!”
Rhameed stares at her with disgust.
Rhameed: “Have you ever cooked rice before?”
Kayley: “Um… not in a pot over a fire like this. Why?”
Rhameed: “Because if you haven’t cooked rice before, you shouldn’t be doing it.”
Kayley: “Woah there big shot. It was an accident. I’m sorry it won’t happen again.”
Rhameed: “Do you know how little food we have? We don’t have enough for you to just go and burn it all.”
Rhameed takes Mitch away and tells him they should vote Kayley and not Alexis or Lisa. Mitch does not budge. He insists that they vote for Lisa or Alexis.
Devin reads the clue. It indicates something between a fork. Devin starts digging in between roots from a tree that look like a fork. He finds the idol!
Devin walks back to camp and brings back wood so he looks less suspicious.
~*IMMUNITY CHALLENGE*~ Day 3
Jeff: “Come on in guys!”
Everyone walks in and Jeff starts asking questions about camp life. Jeff was surprised that both tribes already had fire by Day 3. He explained the Immunity Challenge. It’s a Survivor classic. Using their canoes, the tribes would paddle out to buoys in the ocean to retrieve a torch hung from each buoy. Racing back to shore, four members would run to the top of the hill and begin hauling up the canoe with a rope. The remaining tribe members would rotate logs underneath the canoe, allowing it to roll up the hill. Once the canoe passed a finish line, each tribe's remaining member would run to the top of the hill with the torch and light the victory cauldron. The first tribe to light the cauldron wins Immunity.
Aoba starts with an early lead, but Lisa drops the torch in the water. Sibu quickly catches up.
Jeff: “Both tribes neck and neck coming onto the beach!”
Sibu was very good at rotating the logs and getting the canoe up the hill.
Jeff: “Sibu gaining the lead!”
Aoba ‘s canoe falls down the hill so they have to start all over, but before they could, Lea had already lit the torch for Sibu
Jeff: “Sibu wins the first Individual Immunity!”
Sibu runs together and congratulates. Both tribes return to their matts and Jeff throws the immunity idol to Devin.
Jeff: “Sorry Aoba, got nothing for you. I’ll see you at tribal council tonight.”
Lisa gathers Alexis, Kayley, and Rosie for an alliance. Lisa tells them that she thinks that the guys are all working together and that one of the girls will go if they do not vote as a whole like the guys.
The guys alliance form and discuss who they should vote out. Rhameed insisted Kayley because she is rude and wasteful and Mitch insisted Lisa because she lost them the challenge today and she saw him look for the idol.
Alexis and Kayley hear the yelling and follow it. They hide behind a bush so they won’t be seen. They hear that Mitch wants Lisa gone and runs to immediately tell her.
Rhameed and Mitch continue arguing until Rhameed storms off once again. Mitch says that he can’t say anything to Rhameed and walks off also. Kenny and Matthew stand there and look at each other puzzled.
Jeff: Welcome to Tribal Council. Behind each of you is a torch, grab one and approach the flame, and get fire. Because in this game, fire represents your life.
Each castaway grabs a torch, lights it, and takes a seat.
Jeff: “O.K. So three days in, and zero challenge wins. How does that feel Rhameed?
Rhameed: “Of course you’d ask me that question. Well no one here knows how heavy that pole was so they have no room to talk about how my performance was.” *the camera pans to Kayley rolling her eyes* “The immunity challenge, I’d say that was a group loss, but Lisa played the biggest part in it.”
Jeff: “Do you agree Lisa?”
Lisa: “Yeah I do say I agree with that. Is it something to vote me out for? I don’t think so.”
Jeff: “Mitch, do you think that’s something to vote someone out for?”
Mitch: “Hell yeah it is! As of now, Lisa is the most physically weak, and a lot of these challenges deal with physicality. We can’t have dead weight just hanging around.”
Lisa shakes her head and laughs
Jeff: “Alexis, what are you basing your vote on tonight?”
Alexis: “Um…”
Jeff: “Should I ask someone else this question?”
Alexis: *laughs* “Yes, please.”
Jeff: “O.K. then, Kayley”
Kayley: “I’m basing my vote on what’s in my best interest. What will get me farther in the game.”
Jeff: “Same question Matthew.”
Matthew: “These past three days have been extremely chaotic. So far I have heard three different names from three different people. I’m trying to keep a level head and stay calm. I’m honestly just hoping my decision tonight won’t screw over my game completely.”
Jeff: “And with that, it’s time to vote. Kenny, you’re up.”
All of the castaways get up and cast their vote.
Mitch holds up his vote and it says Lisa. “Just a part of the plan. If my plan is really in place, this should go to a tie and that’s when we’ll get the girls to flip on you.”
Lisa holds up her vote and it says Mitch. “So you think I’m the weakest? We’ll see.”
Everyone has voted and Jeff tallies the votes
Jeff: *returns with urn* Once the votes are read, the decision is final, the person voted out must leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I’ll read the votes…
Jeff: “And the first person voted out of Survivor: Futuna, Mitch. Please bring me your torch.”
Lisa and the girls hold hands, Kenny shakes his head, Matthew nods.
Jeff: “Mitch, the tribe has spoken.” *Snuffs torch* “Time for you to go.
Mitch leaves without looking back or waving.
Jeff: “With three people getting votes, it looks like this tribe is not one big happy family. And it looks like some people weren’t expecting it, but this is Survivor. Head back to camp, goodnight.”
(Exit Interview) Mitch: Welp… I didn’t see that one. Rhameed really screwed me over by not voting with the alliance. And with how the votes were read, it looks like someone flipped too. I do not hope them the best and I hope they wisen up and get rid of Lisa, but that’s up to them now.”
