I'll be watching all the new TV pilots this year on the major networks, if you'd like to be tagged in my reviews of each of them let me know. It'll extend past the pilots if I like the show, obviously.
I gotta say I really went into this show judging it solely from the commercials and previews I had seen and was not super excited about it. I'll tell you this much, the 21 minute episode flew by. Listen, this show might seem a little corny or a try-hard attempt at a great comedy, but I thought it was a genuinely good show. I feel like it won't have the ratings going forward because not enough people will give it a chance, but I think I might. The show is about a family of five that moves to a new district to accommodate their handicapped son. How all of the characters play off each other is what makes the show really funny.
I laughed at least a half-dozen times along the way. Each character is funny in their own way and has their own moments. I think this is a show that will only succeed if word gets out that it's not half bad and is able to hold somewhat decent ratings. It premiered to about seven and a half million, which compared to Black-ish is only around 500k - 1 mil more. Usually ratings trail off, but we'll see if it holds. I believe it will be on the bubble come renewal season, and will ultimately be canceled.
