Monica is a castaway who originally appeared on Survivor: One World, where she was the fifth person voted out. Despite being a pre-merge boot, she returned to Survivor: Blood vs. Water with her former NFL playing husband Brad Culpepper (of “fuck you Brad Culpepper” fame). Due to her alliance with Tyson and Gervase, Monica was able to make it to the Final Tribal Council, where she was the runner-up of the season.
In One World, Monica was on the all-female Salani tribe and found herself in the minority, as a 5 person alliance between Kim, Chelsea, Kat, Sabrina, and Alicia formed. Due to her physical prowess, the alliance did not target her at their only tribal council appearance before going on a winning streak. On day 12, there was a tribe swap, where she was placed on Manono along with Alicia and Christina. The new Salani tribe was much more physically adept than the new Manono tribe, leading Manono to lose their first tribal immunity as a new tribe. Monica campaigned hard for Tarzan to go because he was old and terrible at challenges, and recruited Colton to help her. Unfortunately for her, Colton was secretly plotting with Alicia to blindside Monica and he recruited his Misfit alliance to make it a reality, blindsiding both Monica and Christina when Monica was sent home in a 5-2 vote. Despite her early exit, she still made the DVD cover.
Several seasons later, she returned to compete on Blood vs. Water, this time with her husband, and competed once again with Kat and Colton, and Monica was unsure if she could trust Colton after he blindsided her. Colton self-destructed and quit the game. Monica later formed an alliance with Aras, Tina, Gervase, and Tyson. Simultaneously, her husband Brad was voted off his own tribe and sent to Redemption Island. Angry at Brad, Candice tried to sabotage Brad and Monica by having John give Monica the Idol clue to place a target on her, only for Monica to burn the clue. Even though she feared Laura Morett would beat her husband at Redemption Island (the reason the others wanted to vote her out), Monica joined in the vote to send her to Redemption, and her fears were cemented when Laura sent her husband out of the game. Following Brad’s elimination, a tribe swap occurred, staying on Galang with Tina, Laura B., and Kat. At this point, Kat was frustrated with Monica’s strategizing and tried to get Tina to join her in voting her out, only for Tina to run to Monica and inform her of this, resulting in Kat’s own elimination.
After eliminating the unpredictable Laura Boneham, Monica was informed she was the bottom of her alliance. The merge occurred and Laura M. returned to the game. She reunited with Tyson and Gervase, who offered her a place his their Singles Alliance. This resulted in the blindside of Aras, followed by the elimination of his brother Vytas at back-to-back Tribals, Monica herself blaming Vytas with Brad going home. Despite winning immunities keeping her safe, Monica was paranoid. In an attempt to save herself, Tina informed Monica she was once again the bottom of her alliance, but Tina went to Redemption. When a plot to take out Tyson emerged, Monica, with her third individual immunity, decided to stay loyal to Tyson and Gervase and send Caleb to RI. When Monica, Tyson, and Gervase went to a reward feast, Hayden used this to convince Ciera she was on the bottom, which led her to flip. Monica received votes from the other side, while her alliance voted for Hayden. A revote occurred and nobody changed their vote, resulting in a rock drawing ceremony, which allowed Monica and Hayden to be safe. Katie was purple rocked out of the game, giving Monica’s side the numbers advantage, which led them to take out Hayden at the following Tribal Council. Tina returned to the game after winning the final duel and Tina and Ciera tried to convince Monica to join them, resulting in Monica to be a swing vote; Monica ultimately sided with Tyson and Gervase. With Tyson winning the Final Immunity, Tina attempted to get Monica to vote Gervase with her to force a tie, but Monica joined the men in unanimously voting Tina out. Monica told the jury she did not have blood on their hand, but they felt like they didn’t know her. In the end, she received only one jury vote from Vytas for being a strong women, edging her to beat Gervase as the runner-up of the season.
Monica and Brad originally applied to The Amazing Race, but producers liked her more. She is the second NFL wife after Taj from Tocantins. She lasted 25 days longer in her second season, tying with Kelley Wentworth for the greatest day count improvement. She is the first pre-merge returnee to make FTC their second appearance.
I liked her in One World and was annoyed Tarzan outlasted her. Didn't like her as much in BVW due to her awful husband, her betrayal of the Baskauskas' and the Wessens, and her alligning and helping Tyson win.
