Youtube made it to where you can do that now, but it's $12.99 a month.

It is a video app and not a music app, so I can see why that's not a priority feature. Plus, channel success includes viewer retention - length of time the viewer kept the video on display without closing or going to another tab. Being able to exit the app and still play the audio can be a problem for youtube channels. XD
