Favorite 39 Survivor Characters #5

Ranking my favorite 39 Survivor characters in a redo of a ranking I did almost 2 years (just after One World) plus 3 extras as homage to Australia. A lot has changed after I rewatched seasons 1-27 so it will have a lot of changes from bottom to top. Cagayan won't be included because too recent and would need to rewatch which won't happen for a while.

Keep in mind that everyone who made this list for me is in like the top 10% of Survivor characters for me so getting 42 isn't a slight in the slightest

this ranking did not have a 2 month lag inbetween posts, that is not the blog ranking you are looking for

5- Jonny Fairplay

Survivor’s greatest villain takes fifth in my ranking. Jon’s praises have been sung all over the internet, both by lovers and haters (who help summarize why he is loved).

Summarizing my love for him is pretty easy. I love that he pushed the show to its brink, trolling and creating havoc while coming extremely close to a win. He and Burton team up and create a post merge that caps one of the best seasons of Survivor, and probably its most beloved. Whether people loved to hate Jon, loved Jon, or just hated Jon, it all served to bolster an incredibly strong season of Survivor, arguably the crowning jewel of the franchise.
From taking down the most popular and beloved player in all time named Rupert, lying about his grandmother’s death to gain sympathy and use it as traction in promises he made, to coming within a challenge win or Lill not being Lill to winning a season of Survivor after lying about his grandmother being dead, to losing to Lill of all people in one of the best final challenge sequences, Jon is a Survivor legend.

He was also in Micronesia where despite his nefarious reputation he found himself in a very good position but chose not to pursue it and went home early, enraging Probst in the process which is always good. The season is mostly a wash for him, he does no damage to his reputation but he doesn’t improve it either.

I wish he never went on Micronesia and quit, could have let Terry play and not ruined his reputation according to a lot of people :(
Fairplay is an amazing villain, I believe the best villain the show has ever had.
