Favorite 39 Survivor Characters #3

imageRanking my favorite 39 Survivor characters in a redo of a ranking I did almost 2 years (just after One World) plus 3 extras as homage to Australia. A lot has changed after I rewatched seasons 1-27 so it will have a lot of changes from bottom to top. Cagayan won't be included because too recent and would need to rewatch which won't happen for a while.

Keep in mind that everyone who made this list for me is in like the top 10% of Survivor characters for me so getting 42 isn't a slight in the slightest

this ranking did not have a 2 month lag inbetween posts, that is not the blog ranking you are looking for

3- Fabio Birza

FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

The greatest player Survivor has ever seen comes in third, and rightfully so. A strategic genius of epic proportions who effectively nerfed a chess grandmaster with little to no effort. A man of whims that normal human beings cannot begin to understand or even put into words. The man that the Dos Equis man looks up to goes to for advice.

But really I love Fabio so much as a Survivor character and winner. He is the complete antithesis of strategy and gamebots, a focus that has cannibalized modern Survivor and helped make the show a shadow of its former glory along with lame and overused twists. The idea of a goofy surfer type who earns the nickname ‘Fabio’ manages to win a modern season of Survivor makes me very happy.

Fabio during his immunity run at the end of Nicaragua is the last time I was truly invested in a season of a Survivor and actively rooting for someone. I remember being so pumped when he won his way into the finals where he promptly collected his million dollar check. Fabio is just an enigma who is one of the funnest characters the series has had, I can’t think of a moment where he isn’t grinning widely or looking confused. From his love-hate relationship with Naonka, aligning with the alliances I preferred (working with Marty/Benry and co over Brenda/Sash and staff who I dislike immensely), to spending all of his money in a blink of an eye I just love, love, love Fabio.

The antidote to modern Survivor always had a place in the top of 5 of my list and was a candidate to win but ultimately fell short. If you don't like Fabio take a backseat with Chase and Sash AND SUCK IT

i always liked your fabio argument and i agree with all of it and i think he's a great winner for all the reasons you listed but i still find it hard to get behind him as a character

Obscurity I'm also weird because I think ranking winners on gameplay is frivolous but I would argue that Fabio is the best person to ever play Survivor with a straight face

ghoul omg I agree Fabio was the LAST survivor that I actively jumped up and down for to win in the final. I mean I rooted for Lisa I guess.. but I knew she wasn't winning.
