Backdoor (Definition)

Aug 10, 2014 by Hannah_Parks
I am so tired of people misusing the term backdoor'd.
People on this site think that as long as you weren't a Pre-nom, then you'd be backdoor'd if you were a post-nom.
This is all wrong... in order to be backdoor'd the person would not only have to not be put up as a pre-nom, but they also can't be participating in the veto comp. So stop saying "oh no, Nicole's going to be backdoor'd", she had a chance in the veto, therefore it isn't a backdoor, period.

No that's not true. A backdoor is when someone is not nominated with the purpose of being nominated post veto. Whether or not they play in the veto has nothing to do with it, but the person attempting the backdoor would prefer that they didn't.

Blogged the same thing. so annoying that this and "floater" are sooo misused.
Moonfelar  Backdooring was invented in season 5, when they couldn't play for the veto if they weren't chosen, hence eliminating the option that they could save themselves.

moonfelar that's a wise way of looking at it, but incorrect in my opinion.

fantasypntm I know that. But now that that's not possible, backdoor's can still happen, they just hope the target doesn't get picked.

hannah_parks so would you say that Devin this season wasn't back doored because he was able to play in the veto, or Daniele in BB13? The plan at the beginning of each of those weeks was to backdoor that player, they were chosen for the veto but lost and were nominated and evicted as planned. That's a backdoor lol.

they had a chance to save themselves so therefore I wouldn't classify it under backdoor moonfelar

Ya, you are right.
I understand what people mean though, just think there needs to be a new term for people who do play in vetos.

moonfelar  I don't think that would technically be a backdoor. Devin was not backdoored... he knew he was a target and had the chance to fight for himself. The term for that is "Renommed"
