Why do people name their children like the most common names? Like "Oh yes, I really like the name Joe, let's name my kid Joe." Like my name is Nick and I know 15-20 other Nicks. Thanks parents.

A lot of children get named after grandparents or other figures... So those names are going to be re-used.
Or, many children are named after people in the Bible. I am named Daniel because that's a book in the bible.
I was named Christina because my parents' priest refused to baptize me with the name Tina, because it wasn't Christian.
I figured I wouldn't have a problem baptizing Piper, but she had to have either a first or middle name that was Christian, so her name is Piper Jeanne. (Jeanne is my mother's name)
Good lord, I can only imagine if I would have had a boy...his name would have been Cole Porter.
