objectively, it seems like the plot of a mildly entertaining fantasy novel, one that's not a best seller but still has a few fans and might even warrant a sequel.

I look at it as an elaborate scheme for a woman who accidentally got knocked up to avoid punishment. Then, it was picked up by Constantine and from then on was used as a means of controlling the morals of large groups of people by setting a threatening ultimatum if you don't adhere to hem.
donaam I think exactly this. Either Jesus was in on the scam or her lived his life completely deluded. Hallucinogenics given to uneducated fisherman would have helped as well.
