I blogged ~Start~ at 12:00 AM yesterday, and I just blogged ~End~ at 12:00 AM today. How many blogs were created within that 24 hour time period from 12:00 AM to 11:59:59 PM on June 11th?
5498906 (End blog #) - 5496105 (Start blog #)
= 2801
Approximately 2801 blogs were created over the past 24 hours. How many of these blogs were mine? Not counting the End blog, I blogged 8 times on June 11th, including +2 blogs that I deleted afterwards.
10 / 2801 x 100
= 0.357
This means I created approximately 0.36% of all blogs that were posted today.
To determine approximately how many blogs were created per person, I'll use a random sample of 16 bloggers and count all their blogs from June 11th. These figures do not include any blogs that may have been posted AFTER my ~End~ blog.
This sample of users blogged 116 times in total, and was responsible for about 4.14% of total blogs posted in the last 24 hours. The average amount of blogs per user for my sample is 7.25. For simplicity purposes, let's round that number to 7.
Now let's assume the *average* Tengager blogged 7 times today.
2801 / 7 = 400.14
400 x 7 = 2800 (close enough)
If the average user blogged 7 times today, this would mean that approximately 400 people blogged today. This figure may be off by a mile due to my small sample size, and simply because some people blog way more than others. And obviously deleted blogs cannot be easily accounted for.
I may continue this for a week to see which day of the week is most active in terms of blogs.
EDIT: Tomorrow I should redo this but use a certain amount of people from each colour level for my sample
this could be off due to the small sample size but also in the way that you randomly selected the users. did you randomly select blogs you saw throughout the day? that would mean that you were more likely to choose a blogger that blogged multiple times, and that could affect the calculations a little bit.
also ughhh what about deleted blogs patrick319 cause when i dont get commets or plusses i delete my blogs so.....do you think that could account for some of it
maxiphone27 The selection method wasn't even that random. I basically just picked a bunch of people who blogged tonight before 12 AM + some other random people for some diversity. I would do a sample of ~50 people if I do this again
And iamtrey as mentioned, I can't really take into account deleted blogs so that does skew everything lol
