aiwfwyattroh we have to chose one of two questions. I might as well just copy/paste them.
1. In a study, discussed by Wayne Martino and Goli M. Rezai-Rashti in the article, The politics of veiling, gender and the Muslim subject: on the limits and possibilities of anti-racist education in the aftermath of September 11, “Hoodfar asserts that many of her participants [in Quebec] actively chose to wear the veil, despite objections from their parents and specifically their mothers who did not associate the practice of veiling with Islam. Alternatively, the majority of women in Hoodfar’s study chose to wear the veil because they identified it as part of their religion, which was consistent with their desire to be good Muslim women”. (p. 421). Drawing on the article by Martino & Rezai-Rashti (2008), discuss three(3) ways in which women’s veiling practices (agency) challenge the construction and perception of the veil as a symbol of oppression.
2. Drawing on the reading, Musolf, G.R. (2003). Social structure, human agency, and social policy. In International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy, Vol. 23 (6/7), pp.1 - 12 , discuss three ways in which the micro (everyday, personal/individual issues) are shaped by the macro (larger structural). You may use examples from your everyday experiences.
