Survivor 30 Episode 1 Review

imageTime to start my episodic post-show blogs and rankings.

That was a good premiere but no where near Cagayan. However, there are some good storylines brewing. We got some decent character development, some surprising STARS, and some unpredictable plots.

Firstly, I'm content with So having been voted out first. The feuding Carolyn/So dynamic played out perfectly and I can't be more pleased with the outcome. I liked So and think she had the potential to turn out to be a real good villain but she was a good first boot for first boots sake. But her entire arc is really disappointing from her being pulled out of SJDS last minute to being the first boot on S30. Such a tragedy. Carolyn got a Trish-esque premiere edit in the sense that we were bombarded with confessionals from her, and I loved every second of it. Carolyn finding the idol was golden and so much better than a boring Max or Tyler finding it and Jeff subsequently wanking over it. I think Carolyn's visibility will decline but I still have high hopes for her to hopefully get far. As for the remainder of the White Collars, Joaquin was unintentionally hilarious throughout. Max was likeable, but Tyler was really dull and snooze-provoking.

And as for Shirin, I don't know where she'll go from now. She got a good edit in the sense that they showed her "creating" an alliance with Carolyn and Max but her edit fell from there. I'm also getting 50 Shades of J'Tia from her, referring to challenge performance. Oh God please save us from another J'Tia esque DISASTER in challenges. Shirin can't be that girl. But any ways, I'm getting pre-merge vibes from Shirin even though I'd like to hope otherwise.

Onto the No Collars, I'm thoroughly impressed, but also intrigued. The entire Vince/Jenn/Joe storyline is so unforeseen and I'm loving it. Vince as the jealous boyfriend? What?? I'm pretty sure Joe gets the last laugh as he'll be the eventual demise of Vince, but that trifecta is rather humorous to me. I also enjoyed Jenn a lot in this episode which I didn't expect.

And then Blue Collars are okay I guess. Not much from them, but I guess I enjoyed Sierra's subtle bitchiness, along with Mike/Dan painted as the "underdogs". I actually like Mike a lot, and I don't know why. I'm sure it'll wear down but as of now, I like him.

I got caught on the 50 Shades of J'Tia line

Is it bad that I can imagine this and I want it to go away right now
