This is a very strong semi-final. I like practically everything.
Dinah is my ~overall~ fave because it's cheap pop and I love it obviously. Adrijana is also great because we don't often get stuff like that in MelFest. Nano's song is also nice and sounds the most ready to be played on the radio in America or UK. Ace's song was amazing until the chorus, which should have been the focal point of the song but rather felt tired. I still like the song, but I think it's her weakest attempt and if Ace doesn't win this year on her third try, she's probably done for good.
Boris's song is good but nowhere near Put Your Love On Me. When it comes to Charlotte, I like the fact she's taken a new direction but the song isn't for me. I guess De Vet Du are the worst of the semi but I fear they'll be this years Samir & Viktor.
I think my top 4 sound like the most plausible to go through to the Final/Andra Chansen but I hope De Vet Du don't pull a Samir & Viktor. Also don't know how Charlotte will be received by the Swedes.
1. Nano - Powerful male vocal + bass and drum is a good recipe for success with me.
2. Dinah Nah - Cheesy pop. Not quite sure it's as good as "Make Me (La La La)" yet, but I'm into it.
3. Adrijana - Always expect a few unknowns to BRING IT at MF. She does.
4. Ace Wilder - Verse is Ting Ting's/Icona Pop sounding to me, which is all good in da hood and fine with me. I think both of her previous MF choruses have come off as a little lazy, but I think that's because she sells them so well that they seem effortless. I'll give this one a chance still for her to SELL IT, but after a few listens, it's not sticking with me,
5. Boris René - Not as good on first few listens as "Put Your Love On Me." It's fun, though.
6. De Vet Du - Like everyone is saying, this is filling the Samir & Viktor void. And other than Saxofuckinfon, that's just not a void that needs to be filled.
7. Charlotte Perreli - I was genuinely terrified that she'd send an instant qualifier and reach the jury portion and have a shot at being selected, as I was looking at her jury scores from previous years and it's ridiculous. I don't think this stands a chance, and I HOPE I'M RIGHT.
Straight to finals: Nano & Ace (based on popularity, not necessarily merit at this point).
Andra Chansen: Dinah Nah & Boris Rene/De Vet Du.
