is 100% strategic. it's not one part social one part competitions and one part strategic-- people who boast that are players like Ian Terry to make it seem like they're good players. Social and strategic are literally the same thing, and competition wins are virtually irrelevant.
Social and strategic gameplay are different. You can have a great strategic mind but the personality of Dolores Umbrdige and you're going to get voted out simply because people don't like or trust you.
Moonfelar you're not wrong, but the two aren't separate for that exact reason. someone who evicts everybody like a complete dick isn't good strategically
Key example: Steve is very strategic but he is terribly socially. Same with da'vonne. They both came up with decently good ideas on strategy but are terrible socially. However John or Meg are very good socially, everyone loves them, but terrible strategically. You are wrong
Comp wins are definitely relevant. If Jason Guy won the final HoH in bb3, he would have won the game. If Will Kirby won final 4 pov in Allstars, he could have won the game. If Vanessa didn't win final 4 pov this season, she would be in jury.
ChilltownBB7 yup! very terrible strategic player, but well liked! arguably this would be the example of social/strategy being separate-- yet being a nice person that's fun to be around isn't a game for her, it's just who she is. it's not hard to be who you are in the house.
adamsel Steve is socially awkward, yes, but he also was friends with everybody in the house and there's a reason Vanessa doesn't want to take him to the final 2. Vanessa is terrible socially, but seems to always find a way to come out on top in terms of game. However, we're defining being social as two different things-- one is being liked, and one is being smart. I'm saying that being liked isn't relevant in the Big Brother house as regardless of the outcome the better player should win. being socially awkward doesn't mean you're not a good social player.
mattiam competitions are a good tool, but they don't have any regards to the individual as a player. competitions are very important in Big Brother, but what's more important is what you do with your reign as HoH or with your PoV. i'm not saying that winning a competition isn't important, but it doesn't contribute to how good of a player the person is.
