My Apprentice Final Interview

6thAug 12, 2016 by SmoothStalker12
I am currently in the final 3 of LaughingOutLoud's Apprentice group game and our final task is to tell you what we have done in this game that makes us worthy of the win.

I believe I deserve to win this game because since Day 1 I have left an impact on the team I was a part of. I was Project Manager for 2 tasks and I won both tasks. Every task that I stepped up and took control of turned out to be a win for the team I was on, except the first task. The first time i was sent into the boardroom was the second to last task, and it wasn't even my fault. I worked my heart out in this game, always submitting a task that I was honestly very proud of. Not only did I enjoy the season, but every task I submitted was something I personally believed in, such as the fundraisers and debate. There is a difference between putting in work and putting in heart, and I think I put my heart into my work. I spent hours making my posters as I have learned in my professional life that presentation and appearance is everything. I edited and designer my posters and pamphlets to make them as visually appealing as I could, and it worked seeing I never lost when I had to submit a poster.

To give you a better understanding of the tasks I had submitted, here are the ones I am most proud of and the positive feedback given back from the host.

Week 1: Creating the Team Name- Project manager picks very basic name and does not show up to present it, so I have to step up and present it for my team. I created the image for our team name, created a presentation without any help and somehow made our team not lose by a landslide even though we should have. The quote I made is still on the group page of Team Discovery.

"There are several layers and possible interpretations to this name. As a team, we plan to discover any possible solution to any problem we face and create the top quality products for all tasks given to us. Also, we are all individually here to discover the true apprentice businessman or businesswoman that we have inside of us. Although we lack experience, we will discover our own individual talents through this group game."

Task 3 - Hat Advertisement

The first time I had volunteered to be Project Manager after witnissing 2 teammates crash and burn, so I wanted to turn my game around by taking control of my own destiny. I created 2 advertisements for the hat that I was proud of, and earned positive feedback and my first win.

Feedback : "Great job with the presentation! I think you guys once again pulled off a risk by doing a commercial and A Ad. The AD was lovely and it was great!"

Task 4 - Breast Cancer Fundraiser
My fellow finalist AnnaMarie and I teamed up and totally dominated this task as we earned the win for our team again. While she had the idea behind the Tree of Hope, I created the ideas for the fundraising from the bake sale and the picnic (i think). I also created the advertisement that helped put icing on the cake for our win

Task 5 - China Destination Pamplet
My second swing at PM and also my second win as PM. This is the task I am most proud of because despite the accusations of the competition, I was very proud of what I was able to create in the short amount of time. I combined the suggestions of my teammates and put them together into the pamphlet that was the main reason my team had won. I am still proud with how it looks and an very satisfied with it.

Feedback "What a beautiful brochure! Once again I got a beautiful look at what i'm expecting to see on this trip with beautiful and colorful imagery. I didn't expect this much! I think everything was mostly perfect except for a couple things"

Task 6 - Empty Lot Debate
For those who think I made f3 with just my visual aids I created, this task really proved them wrong. With a Project Manager who really drug his feet and didn't even make up his mind on the debate, I had to step up and present the entire argument myself. I did more research than I would have liked and created a petition to help get the TG public involved, AND constructed an argument that I thought was very strong, then argued against every point the opponent made, literally EVERY point. This victory sent their top player into a downward spiral and made him quit the game because of ME.

Final Task - NYC Fundraiser
I dedicated quite a lot of time into this task and wanted to leave the host with a good impression. I created a fundraiser based on a charity I have witnessed in my life this summer and actually care about it. Through personal stories and research, I created a festival to raise funds for children with hearing loss, and creating 2 posters to advertise. I also won with the highest score out of my fellow f3 competitors.

Name / Reason - 20/20
Poster / Commercial - 25/25
Activity - 28/40
Neatness - 10/10
Earlyness - 5/5

Overall looking back at the season, I do believe I was one of, if not the, strongest player this season. I took control of almost every challenge we were given and I lead my team to the win. I faced heavy criticism of being racist and plagiarizing but I didn't let that stop my dedication to this competition. I work 40 hours a week. I worked 10 hours today and am in the car on my way to vacation as I am typing this. I have dedicated a lot of my time to this game and I think I should be the one to win.

Since week one I was seen as a threat. I was the only TV star and when my logo for my team corporation was shown, others saw my designing skills as threatening. The downfall to this was my team members often depended on me more than they should have, making me do more than I should. I often worked on a tight deadline and barely submitted the tasks on time, but when I did submit them I was proud of what I had made. Some may say the leadership was lacking, but when your team says nothing to help and you know what you're capable, I think it's fair to take control. I may have been dominant, but I was dominating the game.

TL;DR - I was 2/2 for project manager, was the main factor to every task my team won. I dedicated a lot of time despite my busy schedule and believe I worked the hardest out of everyone. I won the final task as well, once again proving I am the strongest of the 3. I used my creativity, leadership and determination to win five tasks for my teams. I deserve the win
