I know people don't normally make blogs like this anymore because TV Star is so easily achieved nowadays....but I joined this site on January 11th, 2011. 1/11/11. Back then, it was a big deal when someone got TV Star. I think there were about 20 or so TV Stars when I joined (EDIT: apparently there were 14, thanks Austin)? Not entirely sure, but it was a small amount. (Ps if anyone knows what number I really am you can tell me lol)
I've gotten to watch this site progress, and regress. I was here for bad times and I was here for good times. The JoshGotti incident, KingMac and his antics, the BioDork hacking (favorite of all time btw), mod drama, actual GOOD Stars games.
I was intrigued with Stars from the time I joined this site. I can still remember the 3 finalists in the Stars when I joined: Jakelovespickler, SamMactavish, and Yoki. Yoki was a flavor, Sam had been nominated a few times, and Jake was unnominated. I remember thinking to myself that he must have played hard to do that, so I rooted for him to win. Then I saw all these TV Stars around and decided on 3 goals for this site: to go unnominated in a Stars, win a Stars (hopefully that one, but I'll get to that), and to buy TV Star.....I guess 2 out of 3 isn't bad after 6 years?
I didn't expect to actually make friends on this site; I was a 13 year old boy who just wanted to play Survivor and Big Brother games. But I got into group games here, and maybe that's why I took so long to get TV Star. I liked the dynamics of new games that were completely unique. One of my crowning achievements on this site was when I won Gaia's Return to Bouvet Island, which had 91 players (sorry nbkiller) after getting runner up in his series 3 or 4 times. Playing RSF games (Alex is a great host, check him out @ RShowFreak), Bingo's Survivor games, it was just so fun to me and that's how I made most of my friends.
Then there was the Skype Chats. Now, no one REALLY wanted to be friends with a prepubescent 13 year old boy. But the one group that let me in was the Blazing Aces. Tina, Austin, Tony, Kelly, Aaron, etc. That's where I made my home at until I found people like Austinrules, Biddy, Meduncan, Chrisw, Danger, etc. Then I got to meet DarkTyphoon, Gaia, and BOBROCKS333; who are still some of my best friends TO THIS DAY. And lately I've also had the chance to get closer to people like FrozenShadow, Christian_, and a few years ago even Ethan000. And there are soooooo many other people I could name but that would take ages. I love you all.
I never thought I would win a Stars. I had the smarts and the strategic ability, I knew I did. But I was never really that popular and no one ever REALLY liked me much. But I've played Stars 11 times now I believe, and I don't regret any of them. I still love Stars. I love the strategy behind it, and though multis have ruined it, that strategy is still somewhat there. And I have faith one day I might still be able to win a Stars, but I did manage to go unnommed against Negan and MBG so that's at least somewhat of a feat. I love Stars and the way the game can change everytime you play it.
I could go on and on about my experience on this site. It's seen me grow from a young boy that was depressed, lonely, and just wanted something to do into a young man with a bright future ahead of me and much happier in general. People say this site can't do that for you, and yeah it didn't, but it certainly helped. And I've made plenty of friends I hope to hold on to for years to come here. I'm going to tag 30 people who are still here that I love to death, and if I don't tag you I'm sorry I'm just doing this off the top of my head!
Also I know some people will think this blog is dumb, but really it's just me reflecting on my time here and thanking some people for the role they played in my life here and for some of them even outside of it. I love y'all.
