Pet Peeve Central: Session #2 (Charity Abuse)

17thJan 20, 2014 by Tailslover13
Hello, I'm Tailslover13! I complain about it so you don't have to!

Charities, charities, charities. They're a fun little slice of Tengaged that makes people happy when they reach a certain milestone. They're a horrible piece of crap made to drive us crazy and piss us off. Which of these statements is correct? If you guessed both of them are correct, then you're right!

Seriously, sometimes a charity goes off without a hitch, but this is extremely rare. In almost every charity game, whether it be a Frookies or a Crookies, you're going to have at LEAST one person who either wants to ruin it, complains the whole time, doesn't do their part to help out, or is just there to be a whiny bitch. How people find it in their heart to be so cruel is beyond me. The fact is, no matter how trivial a silly site this is, people feel accomplished and proud to reach milestones. If they want to celebrate it by having ONE freaking game dedicated to them, then let them! How selfish are you that you can't let them have that? If you're a type of person who relishes being a villain and ruining things for others, you're simply an asshole. You're not cool, you're not a queen/king, you're not funny, and you're not "just playing the game". You're an asshole.

But, this isn't to say that a charity holder can't sometimes be at fault for screwing up, too. For example, take this Frookies: http://www.tengaged.com/game/108841 . See, Sarah (who many of you know from the recent Stars) was there first. I was there second. The mustard fool was there third. And suddenly, here comes an idiot who suddenly claims it as their charity. Uh, no, you can't do that. You wait for the next one to get open, and THEN you do that. I don't care if you made a blog and you have a lot of people waiting for you; you do NOT have a right to just make a game your own when you weren't there first, or even second. Just because it is your milestone and you have your people waiting does NOT give you that right. It makes you look like a selfish, greedy jerk who only cares about their charity and not anyone else. That's not okay.

Now, on the opposite side of this, take a look at THIS Frookies: http://www.tengaged.com/game/108773 . In this one, the first guy there (Ricker) was having his charity. It was taking a little while, but he was still there first and he just needed his friends to show up. So, what happens? Just because an impatient little bitch decided that she had waited long enough to play a Frookies, she just bursts in and declares that the charity is off and it's a normal game. Uh, no, you can't do that, either. Who the hell do you think you are? I don't care if it takes 24 hours; you don't treat others like that. Treat others the way YOU want to be treated. If the charity person themselves decides to call it off, that's fine. But, for you to just waltz in and demand it be a normal game, you're a selfish little bitch and you deserve the hatred you get. That's not okay.

Finally, let's take a look at this Crookies: http://www.tengaged.com/game/108481 . In here, Eccentro was voted out first of his own charity. Not only did all the bets on him go to waste, but he was mocked, ridiculed, and teased by those who ruined it for him. Their excuse? They didn't have one. Yep, they basically straight-out said they were there to ruin it and they didn't care. Uh, no, you can't do that. This is wrong on so many levels and it basically shows their parents didn't raise them right. If this is how attention-seeking assholes like this treat other people, they really don't deserve to be on this site. The site is for competitive gaming, but not treating people like crap and just outright being a jerk to people. We don't need more bullies, real or the internet. We just don't need them in this world. That's not okay.

In conclusion, if you are going to have a charity, you need to do it correctly. Follow these steps and everyone will be happy:

1. Make sure you have a squad of at LEAST 8 people to help you, since that is more than the majority and, if you have that many, at least you probably won't get it ruined.
2. Be the first person in a game, Frookies or Crookies, and make sure you call it your charity. Do NOT just come in during the middle and claim it as yours.
3. Do not ruin a charity just because you feel like it or you're feeling greedy for money or a win. Let the person have their milestone win and be a good Tengaged player about it.
4. Treat others the way you want to be treated. If someone is helping your charity, treat them nicely. If a game is taking too long to fill, get off your ass and do something else.

This concludes our second segment of Pet Peeve Central. Just remember that it's better to have a charity than to be a charity case. I'm Tailslover13! I complain about it so you don't have to!

Courtney_ Believe it or not, dear, I typed this all in one sitting. It happened after the game I was in got hijacked. So, I typed this all in 10 minutes.

I agree with this

i agree josh, you gotta be first to claim a game or have a friend claim it for you

i was in that frookies, but when i joined i didn't know it was hijacked :(

PSULucky You're smart, that's why. I'm glad you do. Thanks!

Kavalle Yes, I'm glad YOU realize that. So many people are so selfish and it just irritates me. Who do people think they are? First it was with Ricker being in his charity first, only for a bitch to just show up in the middle and demand it be a normal game. Then, Sarah and I show up first and are interested in a normal game, only for a selfish jerk to just pop up WITHOUT EVEN ASKING US IN A PM and claim it as his charity. I can't stand it.

The game was filling for over an hour and it only had 3 people. My charity was scheduled for 9 PM and I didn't want people to go offline. I'll join your charity if you have one, let me know. tailslover13

it doesn't always work out perfectly i guess, i play many many charities, and i felt so bad when i joined for koin but then it wasn't a clean game, i saved you when you were nommed btw tailslover13
Sent by kavalle,Jan 20, 2014
Thanks, Kavalle, but not like it mattered much. Both of us were completely in the dark and irrelevant. It was just that stupid pre-made for the charity hijacker. It just left a REALLY bad taste in my mouth; I can't stand it when people abuse the system like that.
Sent by Tailslover13,Jan 20, 2014
i will join a charity for you also tailslover13 glad we mended our fences

but i also understand the frustration koin had waiting for a game to fill, i wasn't aware of that
Sent by kavalle,Jan 20, 2014
Thanks again, Kavalle. And, that's all well and good for him, but it was still very rude. Think about it. If he REALLY wanted the game for his charity, he could've at LEAST been nice enough to PM Sarah and myself and explain it to us. If he sent me a PM, I might've been fine with it. But, to just invade and take over it, and not even say a single word to either of us...it was just so rude.

I wasnt sure what to do there... I mean you didn't say anything in-game so I didn't know where your head was at, if you told me you were here to help or something I could have gotten you a good placement. but you were just silent so i didn't know.

Plussed i couldnt agree more with you.
My first chairty was ruined it was a horrible feeling. I did your step only thing was two created fake msgs and turned my own supporters against me. I feel now the same people ruin it as they never can won in an normal game. Also ive been a few chairty tht at f5 someone not the chairty holder trys to do pov thinking that no one will see. Unlike for them i learned to watch ive won 2 ruined chairty. (No i didnt ruin it) and with the t's ive won ive promise to gift the. But we know how quick we have to be. So while waiting im just  bet with the t's so i can buy something tht cost more. Honestly the tg community need to wake up to this and not let it happen anymore!! Great blog bro

Plussed and even though it probably won't be, this deserves to be a top blog.

People are so self-entitled now a days it's ridiculous. If things aren't going their way it doesn't matter if it was for kindness for someone else, it simply has to change.
During my crookies charity I had to deal with a guy who joined because I asked, then repeatedly asked why I was getting handed everything and what made me think I could have a charity, and made fun of me to the people in his casting, and then got upset when he was voted out. While everything's ok now, I still can't believe what a fundamental misunderstanding people have of the word 'charity' and what it means not only on this site but in real life. If you can't give simple kindness on a virtual site than I shudder to ever come across you in real life

OutthereElmo Ouch. Sounds like you've had a run of bad luck. That really sucks. I really wish Tengaged would do something about this, but other than banning those who actually ruin or hurt charities and their holders, I doubt anything can really be done. Charities aren't even in the rules; it's something the players themselves take into their own hands. As I'm sure you know, when people take government into their own hands, it leads to trouble. That said, you would HOPE that people would just be nice and realize what a charity is supposed to be and just go with them and stop acting like jerks. It's just a stupid little game site, for crying out loud!

Mia595 That's very sweet of you, on all accounts. And, sorry you had to go through that. A lot of people tend to react that way when things don't go exactly their way. Not everyone, but lots of people do. I'd also hate to meet a lot of the people on here in real life. Sure, while it's true a lot of people hide behind their computer screens and like to THINK they only act a certain way on the internet opposed to real life, I think how you act on here speaks volumes about your character. Like my mother always says: "Once a cheater, always a cheater." And, in my eyes: "Once an asshole, always an asshole." So, you can't hide it.

Tailslover13 bad anit the start of whats happened to me over the last month on tg. I wish all player could just some some basic respect and let others have their chairty. Like they got their and it wasnt ruined why ruin someone you dont know. Ive got a feeling over the next 2 month tg will go down terrible then pick back up. A lil respect goes a long way. Wheater it be in a chairty or not :)

That's my only excuse why I don't have charities is because I know people like those that would indeed ruin it for me. Thanks for posting this!
