Following the male's first loss, almost all of the men had their pride take a huge hit. Sexist or not, most of them felt humiliated at losing to the women in the first challenge right out of the gates. To make matters worse, Ryan seemed to have sustained an injury during the challenge that was bothering his left leg, reminiscent of an injury that haunted the females during One World in the first challenge. While Ryan was being looked at by the medical staff, the rest of the tribe wondered if he would be pulled from the game or not.
While Ryan was removed from camp for the time, alliances were being made with the remaining players. The four male Tengaged All-Stars (Jim, both Nicks, and Rob) quickly formed an alliance, and decided to rope in the most annoying player on the tribe so that, if things went awry, they would have someone with them that took the target off their backs. They decided to have Jack join them, which he interpreted as them wanting his "ingenious strategic skills" to help them progress. Jeff and Russell, meanwhile, reunited their friendship from their past season, and after getting Colby and Kaiba to join them, they too asked Jack to be on their side. Even though everyone just wanted Jack as their fifth because he was expendable, Jack felt empowered that he would ultimately be the swing vote if Ryan had to be medically evacuated.
At tribal council, it was revealed that Ryan had suffered a tear in his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his knee, and while it wasn't 100% necessary to remove him from the game for this, it would seriously dampen his efforts to help out. Being the bigger man, Ryan asked his team to please give him a proper elimination and vote him out, so that he wouldn't have to quit in humiliation and he wouldn't stay over someone who didn't deserve to leave. Everyone complied with this request, and while Jack was annoyed that Ryan's single vote went to him, Seacrest got his wish and he was voted out unanimously 9-1. Before he left, Ryan struck a fancy pose and called out his famous catchphrase: SEACREST OUT!
