After the shocking win by Phil Mason to push him into the finale three, it seemed like there would be drama at tribal council. Lifelong friends Doug and James both seemed like they would be voting together against Buckley, while Buckley and Phil would stick together to vote against Doug. Phil explained that he likely was playing for third place, since regardless who was in the end with him, he wouldn't get the votes to win over powerhouses like Buckley, Doug and James. Buckley argued to James that he should vote out Doug, since this would pretty much guarantee him a victory over hated players like him and Phil. James made a pitch to Phil to vote out Buckley, because if both him and Doug were in the end, they played almost the same exact game and thus the jury could vote for an underdog like him to pull out the win. Both James and Phil seemed conflicted on whether they should vote out their buddy or not to try and get an easier win for themselves. If not, they would likely be sending Buckley and Doug into a huge tie-breaking challenge for all the marbles.
Ultimately, when everyone voted, it was indeed revealed that James and Phil refused to betray their friend, and there was a 2-2 tie between Buckley and Doug. Both James and Phil were given one minute to confer amongst both of themselves to see if one would flip their vote or not. Both the Angry Video Game Nerd and the angry ranter argued with one another about trying to change the other's mind, but ultimately when time was up, neither one could flip their vote. This resulted in the first-ever tie-breaking challenge in the final tribal council between Adam Buckley and Doug Walker. It would not be a fire-making challenge, however. It would be a trivia challenge between just the two of them. The first one to get a question wrong would be eliminated and become the final member of the jury.
At first, both Buckley and Doug answered all the true or false questions correctly, which then led them into multiple choice questions. On the third multiple choice question, both Buckley and Doug gave different responses. Both seemed confident with their answer, and both openly mocked the other for getting it wrong. When it came to the reveal, it was explained that Buckley was the incorrect one. This sent Doug into the final three with James and Phil, and sent a disgruntled Buckley to the jury.

Like his friend James, Doug is famous for being The Nostalgia Critic, a loud and obnoxious character who rips apart bad movies and TV shows. In the game, Doug and James made an immediate alliance with one another and never once considered betraying the other. Doug won his share of subscriber idols and immunity challenges, and was never in any real danger to go home as he was always in the numbers. He also defeated Buckley in the final tie-breaker challenge to secure himself a final three spot. Did he play enough of a different game from James to give him a big win in season 6?
James Rolfe came into the game with a large target on his back as well, possibly for being even more famous than his buddy Doug. Having just released his lifelong dream movie to theaters around the United States, James is well-known for being The Angry Video Game Nerd, a loud and vulgar character who goes off the deep end when reviewing horrible video games. In the game, James and Doug were in an alliance that never faltered, and James was never in any danger to go home. He won several subscriber idols and several immunity challenges. Did all his hard work finally pay off to get him a justified win?
Phil Mason came into the game most likely as a nobody. Without even 100,000 subscribers, Phil was easily one of the most overlooked people in the cast. Seen as a person who ripped off people like The Amazing Atheist, Copper Cab, and A Dose Of Buckley, Phil is a YouTube ranter who loves to rip apart bad YouTube channels and give his opinions on movies, video games, and other random things. In the game, Phil was often the comic relief, such as arguing with monkeys, getting drunk and going naked, getting stung by jellyfish, or humiliating himself in other ways. He didn't receive a single subscriber idol in the entire game, but did get two immunity wins when he really needed them. Despite not doing as much as Doug or James, could he possibly pull out a shocking and illogical win?
