Manipulation

Dec 9, 2014 by Tailslover13
It's rather funny. The people with higher color ranks always have no problem manipulating the people with lower color ranks. It's like they can't think for themselves and make the right choice, and they get blinded by people with more 'power' than them and they're scared into obeying them. These games can be so twisted and insane. But, I've come to realize that. Still never gets old to see such idiocy, though.

While this is sometimes true, it's not always.

I've seen some conniving lower level players.

I think the reason for this is that both types of players (good and bad) join the website...

generally good players are articulate and able to make bonds with other players...
and generally bad players are inarticulate and are not able to (they're not stupid, just poor typers/chronic texters with poor spelling)

The players who do well stay, level up, and become high-ranking players, and those that don't do well leave.

So it's not so much that rank = skill...

but skill leads to higher ranking... eventually.

JamesM Yeah, perhaps, but I still kinda find it hard to believe. I've even had some TV Stars and other people up at those levels confess to me on Skype that they love to manipulate "noobs" as they call them and those with lower color ranks. So, even though you may be right, you have to agree that this happens a fair bit. Take my latest game for example. A yellow-level person said that she had no idea what to do, and "people" kept telling her to nominate me. So she listened to them. And that just makes them that much stronger. People just need to think for themselves.

I actually think this is true to some extent :P people get big egos over online ranks

Sheena You can say that again. I'm somewhat guilty of this myself in a few regards, because my life is pretty pathetic otherwise, so getting a little 'power' on a silly gaming site does make a person feel good. But it's still enough to make you annoyed when you see people get manipulated and controlled so easily and buy into the lies and 'evil' game-play of ruthless gamers. I'm sure you understand what I mean, and it's likely you've been on both sides of this in your lifetime on here, right?

yes it happens. I didn't deny that it does. Big Brother and Survivor are games about social manipulation. But there are times when you try it and it REALLY backfires because the person has a mind of their own.

Life is the same way people tend to flock or are feared into following those with power who also manipulate...
