We would like to take a moment to recognize all those users affected by the events that happened in America on 9/11/2001. You are all in our thoughts today as you remember the loved ones you have lost.
With that said, we request that everyone respect these users and keep any jokes or blogs that make light of this horrific terrorist attack off of the blogs page. We will monitor the blogs today and ask that all users that are blog moderators do so as well and any blog that is offensive in nature will be removed. If you continually post you may be blacklisted or possibly banned as this was a tragedy and should not be joked about.
Thank you all for respecting each other concerning this matter.
This is really needed Sue. So many people joke about this day, every year, and it's sad and disrespectful, claiming it doesn't effect them, when it effected the country as a whole.
uhm problematic opinion maybe but i dont think its rly fair to censor something like this... like yes i agree its horrible to joke about this, and yeah ik every year theres drama about people making offensive jokes, however, 9/11 jokes are not racist or sexist or homophobic, etc... they are just simply rude jokes in poor taste. that should not really be something punishable on a website...
One of the best things done by tmod ever. I don't get how people can make a joke out of the death of thousands of innocent people. The problem isn't even the people who can't remember 9/11, it's the blatant disrespect people have for others
redsoxjc I understand where you're coming from, but Censorship under any circumstances is wrong. People should have the right to joke about what they want to without interference from higher authorities. Sadly, there are insensitive people who will spew immature jokes about a terrible event in human history. But, when we take the rights away from others, we in turn take away our own rights. This decison was very misguided by the moderation of this site.
While I think joking about 9/11 is tasteless, I don't think such a statement of censorship is acceptable. The degree of micromanaging here is a bit bizarre.
great idea. Terrorist attacks should not be joked about. It may be called censorship to remove rude blogs, but I think it is very fair. I was barely a month old when 9/11 happened, so it didn't neccessarily change my life, because I never knew what life was like before then. But I still have the decency to respect remembrance of such an awful tragedy
