You have to look at the relevancy of the artist at the time. I mean yeah, every artist has loyal fans BUT people mass-buy an album with successful hits on it. The more popular Rihanna albums are the ones where she's had more no.1 singles. It's about how the artist and the album are being promoted, Timster. If Mariah Carey has another no.1 hit, I bet her next album will sell millions.
yoshitomi True, and I do notice that most people's best selling album is their debut album or 2nd album (second chance) album. Only one so far that outdid themselves way after the fact was Taylor Swift (transitioning to Pop helped)
