Was A Series of Unfortunate Events good?

I'm planning on watching it. It's the only book(s) I've ever actually read and completed. lmao this was way back in middle school I think I got to book #8 and stopped.

IT'S SO OVER THE TOP TRY HARD TO BE COMEDIC

Neil Patrick Harris is a terrible Count Olaf. It does do a fairly decent job of following the books though.

jayglezst Does it have a serious tone to it? I'm afraid they're gonna try to make it a comedy like the old movie.

I personally like the kinda comedic value of the whole thing because otherwise it would just be extremely dull

I feel like you have to be a really big fan of the books to really like the show.

Their tone for the show I think is to make it darker as it progresses like the books.
The first 3/4 (Basically 1/4 of season 1) is comedic but then Count Olaf has more of a sinister motive behind him. The producers said they'd touch more on that in later seasons and we'll see it progress eventually.
