I beat Viola. I only had Froakie as I only use water types and didn't have Squirtle. Froakie was at level 12 and beat her pretty easily. You had to beat the first gym to get your kanto starter apparently. I made my way to the next town over and fought the professor. I lost to his bulbasaur even though my froakie was 5 levels higher, he gave me a Squirtle anyway but it was a boy so I started over and leveled up my froakie to level 17, and challenged him again. I saved the game in case they gave me a boy again. I beat Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. In battle Squritle was a boy and I was about to start the game over but I said what the hell, and the Squirtle I choose came out a girl. Kinda inconsistent since in battle it was one gender and then switched when I picked it.
Gamefreak after 6 generations plz just let us choose the gender of our starters! I hate starting my game over 10 times just to get a female starter.
Well I have my 2 starters. Squirtle was given to me at lv. 10 so I want to level her up before I go further as I don't think I will be catching any pokemon for a while since Im building an all water team. My froakie tried to evolve twice but I stopped her both times. I need her to learn bounce before I face that grass gym leader. And I need to get Squirtle and Froakie an Ice attack.
