1. Mike is a complete idiot on Monsters Inc, yet he's extremely intelligent on Monsters University
2. On Monsters INC, it was stated they met in the 4th grade(not college)
3. Mike's body size is x3 times bigger on Monsters, Inc.
etc... there's plenty of more ridiculous shit. Seriously, the director is an IDIOT.

Here's the thing... at the end of Monsters University they show both Mike & Sully(grown version) on Monsters INC about to embark on their new journey...yet on the original movie he's fking humongous.
Still though, there IS a large time span between the movies, and technically monster anatomy could cause growing patters to be however the fuck they want them to be. So they can logically explain any size they want.

we grow rapidly until a certain point, maintain it for most of our lives, then we start to shrink a bit, then die

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THAT, HOWEVER, MONSTERS UNIVERSITY DECIDED TO DO A TWIST AT THE END OF THE MOVIE AND THEY FAST FORWARD A LITTLE TOWARD THE END THAT WOULD EVENTUALLY BE MONSTERS INC'S BEGINNING @_@ Yet they still looked nothing alike
