In this series, I'm going to rank the songs that for me, make me the most emotional. I could listen to these songs on repeat and it would give me chills every single time.
Glee (Alex Newell/Unique Adams)- I Know Where I've Been
So this song is a little different than the others so i'm not going to surprised if some disagree with this. Most of the other songs are emotional in a sad or inspirational way. This is here because of its meaning. So it has two meanings. The first one which is why it was written was to talk about black history in the play/movie Hairspray, which is so so important. But Glee took it to a whole new level incorporating LGBT history which just hits home. In this scene transgender student Unique performs in front of a transgender choir while newly transitioned Coach Beast joins them. I’m not african american and I already found this song so inspiring before hearing this version, but I am gay and this just brought a new meaning to an amazing song. Not to mention that Alex Newell performs this better than anyone I’ve ever seen perform it including Jennifer Hudson and Queen Latifa.This is in the top 5 because it makes me cry of happiness.
