What SplozoJames50 said. Before entering the house, every possible houseguest must watch a complete season of the show. When in sequester they give you all seasons on DVD and that's all you can watch. But, you MUST watch the most current season before going into another season (unless you've already seen it). That's why most recruits favorites are a houseguest from the season prior to theres.
