when you steal from a culture for the sake of fashion or edginess or whatever, you disrespect that culture. not to mention how native american people were called savages for some of the practices and beliefs they had, only for those same beliefs to be stolen from and whitewashed to appeal to people who dont know shit about the culture they took it from

That is exactly what our culture was founded upon. It blows my mind how defensive people on this site are. America is based off of the idea that all cultures, ethnicities, and people can come together and be one nation. Cultures and religions and etc.. are shared. To me racism is having a hatred for another group of people. Indulging in their culture isn't racist or disrespectful. Our history is a great big giant collage of different cultures. They alter themselves and combine and dissociate and transform and this creates new ones. So no, I don't agree with that statement.
