My view on the conflict in the Middle East

Jul 28, 2014 by coreyants
I really am trying to go neutral here, but as someone who is half Jewish then I am probably more biased towards Israel. However, I don't agree with Israel killing innocent civilians or vice versa. But one has to look at the history behind the creation of the state of Israel. The creation of Israel has to do with the Holocaust, so I really do feel for the Jewish people. Millions of Jews were killed, so the UN wanted to create a state for them. Yes, there were Jews there prior but the Holocaust made immigrants come in thousands. I do think they have the right to the land because where else do they have to go? The Middle East is a muslim & arab dominated region, so Israel deserves to have a country. And I do think the Gaza Strip is controlled by terrorists and I disagree with attacking UN shelters even with their reasonings, so I am not 100% Israel. I honestly feel for both sides. But Israeli teens were kidnapped and killed also and so many Palestine kids have died as well. I really don't think there will ever be peace in the Middle East.

I agree with most of your points coreyants . Although I disagree with the fact that the UN gave Israel, Palestinian land. And don't understand how middle east being arab-dominated means we should give land to jewish people. And yh unfortunately I don't think we'll have peace, well not in my life-time I don't think

Obviously it's the UN's fault a lot of this is occurring JamieAndre. Where do you expect the Jews should go? Israel is the only country that is dominated by Jewish people. Jews are minorities in the US even. They deserve to have their own country not saying Gaza doesn't, but the history is not the same.  They're both in the wrong IMO and I'm Pro-Peace not Pro-Israel or Pro-Palestine even though that'll never happen lol. I'm a pacifist in nature.

I meant the whole establishment of Israel in 1947 i disagree with. (Arabs were against this idea and UN/US/Britain should have been aware that it was not a good idea). But thats done so we can't change it now. There's many things I disagree with israel's policies against Palestinian and also I'm not a supporter of hamas. coreyants

I'm pro-peace as well obviously and I don't blame the Israeli people but i mean, from the Palestinians point of view, they had their land taken away. I don't think the United States would have been so eager had it been proposed that we give up half the country to form a new one, or Britain, or any other country for that matter. But whats done is done and both sides are equally guilty in my opinion now. It's sad for the innocent civilians on both sides.

True supergoten, but I think this just goes back to the UN. They prob should have put the displaced Jewish people elsewhere, but where else would they have gone? Obviously they weren't going to go back to Europe where they got murdered by the millions, so I guess they had to find somewhere far away. The Jews had their land taken away during the Holocaust and were forced to leave to go to concentration camps, so it's really not in the same severity. I think the Jews just wanted their own country, but they should have gotten one that was not someone else's first. And I agree both are in the wrong, but I feel like the media is being more biased towards Palestine atm when both sides are right/wrong to a degree. Just have to keep in mind that Palestine is being run by terrorists, I just wish the Israelis would stop with the civilian deaths. Ugh
