Bisexual men and women are marginalized

Apr 24, 2017 by coreyants
Firet of all, I'm not trying to say any other sexual orientation, gender identity, race, class, etc are not marginalized because they are. However, as a bisexual man, I'm sick and tired of the biphobia bi men and women face on a daily basis. Sexuality is a spectrum. It's not black or white. Yeah I'm attracted to men more, but I'm also attracted to women. Being bisexual doesn't mean you like guys and girls 50/50, it means you're attracted to both males and females.

But personally for me, it's about the person and if we connect not what gender identity they are. As a bi guy, a lot of girls won't even think to date bisexual men because it's seen as gross or taboo. Where as girls can make out in a movie and it's "hot", but at the same time bi women are often oversexualized and it's sickening. I've had bi friends who attend pride and often feel left out of the community. There is so much biphobia within the gay community. Gays will say it's a "phase" or it's just a step to coming out as fully gay, but I've been identifying as bi since I was like a young teen and I'm about to be 23 in two days. Bisexuality is real, end of story .

I completely agree with this blog. When it comes to sexual orientations, bisexual men and bisexuality in general are the most under-represented group. Bisexual men are looked down upon because most LGBTQ people will assume they are just gay and not out of the closet and most people will be hesistant to date them because they assume they'll always want the other sex. Bisexuality is absolutely a spectrum and the Kinsey scale highlights this beautifully. I wish people in general would be more tolerant and understanding.
