[#16] Top 20 Most Iconic LoL Champions

image(tl;dr at the bottom) Coming at number 16, we have the original shape-shifting League of Legends champion in Nidalee, who has stirred up all kinds of trouble. ***This one is gonna be kinda long and has a lot of "game talk" because this bitch has had a long history, this won't be the most entertaining entry but I assure you that this girl has left her mark, being dubbed names such as "Cancer Cougar" and causing the rise of "JUST DODGE THE SPEARS...", a once very controversial argument used to defend her position on the balance spectrum that is now used as a semi-meme on League forums whenever someone complains about a champion.***

Very seductive and animalistic, and there are two reasons why she's on this list: the first one being her spear, and the second being her animal form. The Nidalee spear has been the huge center of controversy over the course of this game's run. At one point, Nidalee was primarily built off of ability power and her spears scaled ridiculously well with AP to the point where if she landed a spear on you, your health would be chunked for a tremendously large amount of health. This came to light and was criticized by a lot of the community as being ridiculously toxic because of A) the low cooldown of the spell, and B) because of the very long range of the spell. Nidalee practically almost one shotted people from 1500 range away, which obviously didn't sit well with many people, which caused a plethora of chaotic debates on forums, with the very famous argument of "Just dodge the spears." coming to light. Other than that, some other spells were criticized - one of them being her pounce (in her animal form), a dash with a 2-3 second cooldown once CDR is acquired that could be used to get over walls, which many argued made her virtually untouchable because she had the range and she had the mobility.

After dominating competitive play and causing such a ruckus among the solo queue crowd as a mid lane hyper poke-assassin queen, Nidalee was then reworked into an AD-tank top lane bruiser, and then a new ball game started where she wreaked havoc against the top lane melees as one of the most notorious lane bullies. With the rework came the ability to have access to cougar form from the very beginning of the game instead of waiting until level 6 - she poked and poked with autos, and if she landed a spear on you - she got the jump from her pounce and the quick execute. This, again, did not sit well at all with many - and the one thing that the old Nidalee had that was considered a huge weakness (early laning) now became the one thing that people despised after her rework... in came the bans. Nidalee was reworked AGAIN (smaller rework, but still...) and had her scalings changed up AGAIN, and if you have a Nidalee in your games today - she more than likely will have AP in her build again. Then comes the question: what is next for the cougar queen?

TL;DR: This champion boasts one of the most unique kits in the game, and also boasts a high skill cap. There's a difference between a Nidalee that just sits back and hits spears, and a Nidalee that legit has every mechanic down to a tee - which made professional players such as HotShotGG very well known for their Nidalee gameplay, some giving him the nickname of "HotShotNidaleeGG". From champion identity, to kit, to the seemingly somewhat continuous controversy surrounding her and the balance department, and to the competitive impact she has had - Nidalee has a well earned spot on the most iconic LoL champs list.
