last night (wow this is so long I didn't even realize how long it was while typing but oh well)
edit: this person has actually texted me again apologizing saying that they're "embarrassed" but honestly i really don't know what to think of this like i'm almost certain i'll never meet them after this but still at least they recognize that they were fucked up lol
This guy and I were chatting through the app and he then said that he wanted to meet up with me eventually and I said ok that's cool but I'd like to talk with you over the phone first (this usually helps me not be as nervous over meeting complete strangers off of apps)
Well he gave me his number and I called him and the conversation lasted a total of 7 minutes, I asked him what high school he went to and he told me he went to Columbus High School and then I told him "Oh, is that here in Miami?" (Columbus is a Miami school but I swear in my 21 years of living here I have barely ever heard of it to the point that when he said he went there I didn't think it was a local school) in which he then flips the fuck out at me claiming that there's no way I'm someone that has lived in Miami all of my life who doesn't know about Columbus, he also asked me about another school called Ransom and I'm like I have literally never heard of that school either (lol...). He then went on to ask me what school I went to and where that school is located and I answered correctly (Palmetto, located in Pinecrest) in which he then accused me of looking it up on the computer while talking to him (????)
So yeah he literally flips out at me for about 4 minutes and then hangs up the phone before I can even get a word in since he is convinced I'm catfishing him and that he has had so many experiences with catfishing that he is over it and I was so distraught because I was excited to talk to this guy and get to know him so I even offered over text message to go on FaceTime or show him a picture of my school ID or send him my Facebook to prove that I am who I say I am but he literally just said "no" and just kept insulting me and calling me stupid and saying that the only thing I have is good looks and that he thought I was a normal and intelligent person but that he was wrong (all of this because I couldn't tell him where some local high schools were located around the city like he asked me to tell him where another high school called Gulliver was located in Miami and I'm like how the fuck would I know if I never went there???????)
He also kept asking me a bunch of random trivia questions and kept asking me if I knew the locations of these random universities around the United States that I have heard of but like I don't know what cities they're in because I've never checked for them until I eventually told him to not text me again because I am convinced that A) he has a severe mental problem or B) he is a huge troll
Anyway I just needed to talk about this somewhere because I have literally never had such a mind-blowing dating app related experience like this like I literally did not even think this guy was being serious over the phone when he was having his meltdown but then when he hung up I was like "what the hell..." so yeah this was my first "real" interaction off of the famous Tinder app hbu
Just as a warning to anyone that may want to use this app or ANY app in the future: you never know what kind of crazies you will come across and they may hide it very well until they get you in person and you're all kinds of fucked and needless to say I think I dodged a huge bullet with this one because holy fucking shit
obscurity i got the app like 5 days ago and i have 436 matches and of all of the matches I was closest to meeting this nutjob go figure
