u don't have to be, catholic isn't even that strict anymore, openly gay couples are welcomed in our church every day

^^ they are usually welcomed to the church, but issues arise if openly gay people (or "practicing", i believe the book of discipline calls it) decide they want to be youth leaders or sunday school teachers, let alone pastors/priests
