even though it was obvious that natalie would win once keith was voted out, i cried during the winner reveal and that usually doesn't happen
i'm indian, and just seeing natalie win my favorite show after 29 seasons of absolutely NO representation for south asians was such a great feeling. it honestly wasn't something that bothered me very much up until this season, but seeing natalie dominate AND be a compelling character makes me feel really hopeful that survivor will branch out a little bit more in terms of diversity in future seasons. and i'm sure fuckboys will be like "oh you only like her bc she is a minority female" but the twinnies weren't my favorite going into the season and i didn't really stan for natalie until she flipped out at rocker
anyway, seeing her run up to hug her stereotypically brown parents in the audience was so adorable because that isn't really something that gets shown on TV ever and i just love how positive of a reception she got from pretty much the entire fanbase, even the horrible parts of the fanbase
Aww this is so cute I cried when this crotian lady from PR got out right before fashion week because she reminded me exactly of my family so I feel u so bad
I just started watching Survivor and don't know it too well and didn't follow this season that much, but it doesn't seem like they've ever had a Middle Eastern person on the show before, or not more than a handful. I always feel left out too because I'm Middle Eastern and the only middle eastern rtv contestant I can think of offhand is Kaysar. It's cool that a Sri Lankan woman won this show though, and it's cool you felt represented! ^_^
That's what I can't stand about these annoying lame asses who talk shit when minorities root for minorities (not just because they're a minority, cause there's more factors to it). White folk watching/playing Survivor, and minorities watching/playing Survivor is totally different from one another. Especially for an under represented minority like yourself.
My mom reacted the same way when Obama won president. I'm so happy for you, Natalie and me cause finally THE PERSON I ROOTED FOR FROM THE START WON.
+15.
I really did not like the twinnies going into it and had HOPED they'd be voted out pre-merge.
But she was amazing. One of, it not my favorite, winner ever.
