Top 30 TSC Songs since my start: #6-#4

Jan 15, 2015 by ricktworick1
Notes:
- This is obviously my own opinion, why in the world would I make this list if it wasn't subjective?
- I've started my TSC journey in 2011, from TSC60, so obviously many other good songs might be missing.
- I might be a bit harsh on some stuff, so do not take it personally.
- I will include some of my songs, but this isn't going to be all about me list at all.

6. Gareth Emery - U (feat. Bo Bruce)

My bias towards EDM is well documented throughout the list, but there is no denying how Gareth Emery decided to take a different route with composing that song. There is no unnecessary drop or bullshit like WUB WUB WUB, and he perfectly picked the vocalist to sing this tune, as I feel like Bo Bruce is just spot on for that kind of dance song. And again, that single progresses, which is VERY IMPORTANT in making Dance-Pop music, as you want to both listen and dance to it.

5. Years & Years - Take Shelter

Sent by #BlueStar in TSC174, finished 1st with 172 points.

Out of all songs on my list, this one is probably one of the oddest. Blending several genres into one tune isn't a task that usually ends up positively, and at the start, you might feel that the vocal doesn't even suit the work at all. But after listening to it carefully again, I can say that this unique sound is the reason why this song is so amazing. It's also quite shocking for a male act to rank so high on my list, as I much prefer the female soloists to male vocal-based bands. That's how you make good music, boys.

4. Stromae - Papaoutai

Sent by #Achtung/#Shane/ Throwaway in TSC135, finished 4th with 95 points.

While we're talking about male singers, it's a rarity when they make something very unique that sounds like a huge hit. Not even mentioning the fact that this is a foreign song that was sent into TSC, while non-english stuff usually gets shit on just for not being in English. How to fix that? You can send a french song which sounds exactly like something that everyone can like, and that is the case in Papaoutai. Despite it being a dance song, the lyrics are very deep. Stromae is showing the problem of modern families, where the father is the one who works, spending almost no time with his children, and I feel like the music video really says a lot on what the modern world has become.
