Rick's Top 40 Favourite TSC Songs of 2015 (32-29)

Mar 11, 2016 by ricktworick1
Notes:
- All songs sent in between TSC 189 to 225 are eligible
- This is based on my personal opinion. Please do not take any offense from what I think of. Strictly my own thoughts
- Contrary to some weird belief, I don't believe that my music taste is better than anyone else's. This list is for you all to have some fun and laugh at possible comments I make.
- I also include some of my own entries, but don't worry, I'm not that arrogant to have more than 10 entries about myself

32. Delta Goodrem - Wings

Sent by #FlameonX in TSC212, placed 4th with 84 points.

Everyone claims that the 212th contest was one of the weakest ones in history, and I can only disagree with that. Surely, there have been songs (like Liquorice by Azealia Banks) that should not have appeared, but there's always a method to find the balance on that, and Delta Goodrem brought us the quality that every pop song should have. What makes it stand out is the fact that the production itself does not sound really generic thanks to the nice use of instrumentation.

31. Oh Land - Head Up High

Sent by #Monrooster in TSC220, placed 2nd with 105 points.

This entry lost to Halsey's "New Americana," which was my choice for that contest. I know that Mon wanted to send the main single from Badlands into that TSC, but he just missed out by a little. However, I do think that Oh Land's single is much superior compared to my entry, thanks to the great buildup that leads to that typical, but great scandinavic-feel chorus. This nordic style is always known for having that cold-alike vibe while remaining a balance between vocals and everything else. Probably that's the reason why Sweden usually places in the top 3 in ESC.

30. Galantis - Runaway (U & I)

Sent by #Aquamarine in TSC193, placed 4th with 82 points.

This song would have fared much better on this list if it wasn't for the hideous autotuned lines before the drop which really spoils the tune for me. However, if you don't take notice of those parts, everything about it is pretty much golden. The drop itself is pretty genius, it's not super strong, yet it's extremely effective. And that pace, damn. Such a shame that Galantis has only been able to pull off one extraordinary song, because the rest of their works just does not live up to the standards, maybe except for In My Head & Peanut Butter Jelly.

29. Shamir - On The Regular

Sent by Hippydude126 in TSC191, placed 7th with 74 points.

Yes, this is not a joke, I genuinely like this entry. I am not usually a huge fan of rapping, but damn this goes hard. I actually didn't have any hesitations on giving this song a 12, because it just properly shows how to put rapping with the background stuff, not every other bullshit we hear on the U.S. radio in the hip-hop-rapping genre. Quirkiness rocks, people.
