Notes:
- All songs sent in between TSC 226 to 264 are eligible
- This is based on my personal opinion - I mean there's a reason it's MY LIST. Please do not take any offense from what I think of. Strictly my own thoughts
- Contrary to some weird belief, I don't believe that my music taste is better than anyone else's, although I have no idea if it's useful to post that because every year there are some idiots crying about their songs not being appreciated enough. This list is for you all to have some fun and laugh at possible comments I make.
- I also include some of my own entries, but don't worry, I'm not that arrogant to have more than 10 entries about myself
Kerli revived her career with two great releases, a great electro ballad "Feral Hearts" which in comparison to "Diamond Hard" lacks a punch. What I love about this entry is the fact that it gets straight-forward to the attitude-driven beat and vocal colour. The drop isn't anything too remarkable, but for 2016 standards that's actually considered pretty good, especially when that year was full of terrible examples of this...anyway, this shit is so bombastic.
Gosh, the bass here is absolutely brilliant. In comparison to "Diamond Hard," the beat drop here takes it to whole another level. In addition, Brayton Bowman sounds like an unpolished version of MNEK, which shouldn't be considered as a bad thing - I mean, MNEK is a great artist after all. Obviously, the biggest issue here is the repetitiveness of the tune, but what do you really expect from this genre? Also, the guy in the red t-shirt is pretty damn hot.
Earlier on the list, I discussed the content of Birdy's releases, and how most of her stuff are absolute dick-sucking crap which honestly makes you question why someone like her has a music career. Well, I think with this Sigma collaboration, I have found the answer - she sounds stellar with faster beats. Of course, I really doubt Birdy as a solo will ever go down that route, but if she decides to put her delicate, twee tone to her vocal with some fast beats from producers/DJs, I'm all for it. Meanwhile, some anti-depressants should be provided to all of you when you go back to thinking about her slow, musically worthless songs.
One of the biggest things that happened in TSC in 2016 was the drama concerning the ban of foreign entries from regular contests. Of course, knowing the efficiency of Tengaged groups that didn't last long, and non-English releases were back as quickly as they were removed. While there were some casualities (read: idiots) who took this issue too far and got themselves banned from the group for quite awhile, this didn't prevent this great K-pop song from being entered. Recalling the brilliant "I Am The Best" by the unfortunately-disbanded 2NE1, this is basically the same song with modernised production, which really makes "Boombayah" even better than the former tune that I mentioned. If they just didn't release the horrible shitfest that "Whistle" was - #Slice, you are lucky that 2016 in TSC had so many terrible songs that your entry didn't even make it to dishonorable mentions list.
