of the wide window in a series of unfortunate events
W H Y do they keep spoiling the climax/major plot twist/biggest event in each arc as if its NOTHING just randomly for no reason during narrated segments? The show already has really shitty CBS comedy-tier humor which takes away from any semblance of the serious/intense/gripping qualities of the books but now they take away ANY suspense that the episodes might have otherwise had?
like i dont understand how anyone who hasnt read the books would enjoy this at all because of how poor it is.
I also dont understand how anyone who has read the books would enjoy this (unless they are some buzzfeed-visiting white girl who thinks shitty laugh track CBS comedies like big bang theory are funny) because of how horrible an adaptation this is
as a kid i HATED reading. this books of this series were the ONLY books that i read in a non-compulsory setting and i am so attached ugh its so upsetting seeing how the mediocre movie adaptation got shit on by the public and this shitty as all hell adaptation is getting a generally positive reception?
im ranting a lot about this but ugh im SO disappointed in how this turned out. The random 1 minute fanmade cgi teaser that is no way actually associated with this series has entertained me more than close to 5 hours of the series.
vivivoom87 no i have to watch the finale still which i probably should have watched already instead of wasting 5 hours of my life watching this shit hole
splozojames50 thats what they did in the books was reveal the ending like BLANK IS DEAD AND HE COULDNT KEEP HIS PROMISE AND BLANK ISNT DEAD YET BUT WILL BE
UGH I have only watched the first 2 episodes Splozojames50 I read all the books when I was younger and I loved them.
The movie sucked, and the show is so absolutely cheesy it's awful. Why NPH was casted as Count Olaf is beyond me, and the child actors suck (not necessarily completely their fault...they're just young, inexperienced, and given an awful script).
Should I even bother watching the last 6 episodes?
I've read all of the books and I've already watched the entire season and I believe they do the books justice. The narrating was a HUGE part in the books and i'm glad they put it in the TV series. Although i'm not sure why you're complaining about them "spoiling the plot" since that's what they did in the books as well. Also there's no way you can compare this show from one of those of CBS'.
minie the narration part i will concede on because i didnt remember that so MY BAD
and yes, technically the main events of the books do technically happen. my issue is HOW they happen. the acting is over the top cheesy and i cannot watch 2 minutes without cringing. neil patrick harris in particular is so bad that i have to ff through his attempts at being "menacing".
and yes it is comparable to a CBS comedy because neil patrick harris being a PRODUCER has infected the show with the same brand of SHITTY unfunny comedy to the point where one of his bffs from said SHITTY unffunny comedy is now on this show (where she 100% would not have been cast if neil patrick harris was not a producer)
Mine I agree w/ you on the narrator aspect, and the plot being very accurate to the books, but splozojames50 is right about the comedy. It is AWFUL. The books definitely have some comedy, but it's nowhere near as cheesy as what it's like in the show. The comedy is pretty much on par w/ what I see on CBS lol.
The pilot episode was a HUGE cringe. The 2nd episode wasn't as bad, but holy shit, what an awful pilot episode lol
kob3sm1th both reptile room episodes were GOD AWFUL. thoroughly unfunny throughout. like this is why i watch reality tv when the bar for scripted tv is THIS low to the point where this show is considered an above average scripted show
