So I just recently purchased the kind of peanut butter that is literally only made from peanuts and nothing else (as opposed to like jif for example) since the latter has added shit thats bad for you and i just took a bite of my sandwich to discover its nasty as shit LMAO
the sugar and hydrogenated vegetable oils in jif really work wonders damn
nmh95 i bought smuckers crunchy and the only ingredient on the back is literally just peanuts. it tastes like dirt
i dont trust shit labelled as natural bc jif has a "natural" line that has pall oil instead of vegetable oils and shocker its ~naturally~ hydrogenated aka just as bad
so in theory any peanut butter made from just peanuts would taste like what i am tasting now (also my ass is on a budget so ik not paying 2-3 times as much for shit peanut butter since i eat so much of it)
Read the labels... Jif ain't that bad. It's usually just peanut, hydrogenated oils, sugar/honey, and salt. The raw peanut butter that you have to refrigerate is awful to work with and tastes like wood. I always get pb with honey in it.
timster i wouldnt have an issue with the hydrogenated oils if i only ate peanut butter occasionally... but i eat like 3-4 tablespoons daily and im trying to eat clean now so jif has got to go (or maybe ill alternate buying the healthy version every other time so its not so bad)
timster they are the "bad" fats that raise your bad cholesterol among other things and are mainly artificial (highly processed vegetable oils/margarine etc). you generally want to avoid any fats that are solid at room temperature aka saturated fats (cocunut oil, and potentially dairy are exceptions)
timster no cocunut oil is good even tho its mainly saturated fat is what im saying
pretty much the moral of the story is u want to avoid vegetable oils and peanut butter that doesnt seperate and is smooth like jif is not great to eat in large amounts in the long term
timster i dont eat any processed food except for like 1-3 serving of junk food per week (without going overboard)
just fruits, meat, dairy, nuts, veges grains and bread. no added sugar and no processed food (idk if bread and cocunut milk counts but thats as close to processed food im getting now that i switched peanut butter)
needles to say my ass has gained 9 pounds in the last month and a half
splozojames50 tragic. Ew I can't eat nuts by themselves.. I don't like the texture. I actually bought fruit and cut them up but don't have the taste to ever eat them so they're wasted.. canteloupe, pine, watermelon, honey dew lmao. I am consistent at making healthy smoothies though, I add a handful of spinach and some almonds and carrots.. you can't taste it at all.
timster ye i am not a huge fan of nuts like pecans and almonds, those are gross. my go to is walnuts, they are softer and have a pretty mild but nice taste imo even when just plain
I love jif soooooooooooooooo much
