Her clothing line Ivy Park, which she described as having a core message of "female empowerment", has been making its items in a sweatshop in Sri Lanka and paying the women that work there just 63 cents per hour. They are forced to work 60+ hours a week just to stay alive. That doesn't sound very empowering to me, but I guess as long as Beyonce is getting her huge profit margin from the $150 leggings it's fine. Thoughts?
Timster they didn't say it was false. They did not deny that they were paying their workers 63 cents an hour, they just said that they heavily inspect their factories. The fact remains that workers are being paid less than half of what a livable wage is in the area. Beyonce claims the line is about "female empowerment", but it's really about female exploitation and adding heaps of cash to her already giant fortune on the backs of what is basically slave labor.
