Alright, as promised I will post the 20-16 most memorable moments from the series today.
A few things to note about this list:
- Each moment may not relate to one particular incident (like a purple rock draw, or an Idol play). It may be something that happened over a season or even over several seasons.
- While there have been 20 seasons and I'm about to list 20 memorable moments, it does not mean that each season is represented on the list. Some seasons may have more than one moment on the list!
- Moments 20-11 will only have a short write-up. I'll explain what each moment was, but not get into further detail as to why I liked it or what the moment spoke to overall. Moments 10-1 will have longer write-ups.
Okay, without further ado, here are moments 20-16...
20. STONER'S DOMINANCE (S19, SURVIVOR: CONGO)

If you should point to a season where the winner was determined pretty much from day 1, Survivor: Congo would be it. I personally thought Stoner (#Gaiaphage) would be an early target for being a group game legend, but he was able to overcome this obstacle by playing the hardest out of everyone and having a great social game, finding Idols and winning several individual Immunity Challenges. And after 21 seasons, he is still the only player in the history of the series to play a perfect game (not get any votes cast against, and getting all-jury votes).
19. ASHLEY'S BAD LUCK (S10, SURVIVOR: PERU - FRIENDS VS. ENEMIES)

Some call it being dumb, I choose to call it bad luck. Somehow Ashley ( BigBruv) has managed to get banned three times and get voted out all three times because of it in three seasons of the series. Three times a pre-merge boot. Two times one of the last two people to be voted out before the merge and one time Idoled out. Now some probably don't understand why I've had her back two times after getting banned the first time, but Ashley is great entertainment... when she's not banned, that is.
18. THE MONAGAS MELTDOWN (S3, SURVIVOR: VENEZUELA)

The first tribe in the series to fall completely apart (but not the last!). This was a season with three starting tribes with six players on each tribe. And with the third Tribal Council being a double Tribal Council, it only took six days for four of the tribes six members to be out of the game in 18th, 17th, 16th and 15th place. Among them returning player Yoshi ( yoshi9999) (first returning player ever to get voted out of the series). The two remaining Monagas members, Danielle ( Snowgirl57) and Missy ( Missalice3) eventually made it to the merge on new tribes, and have since returned to the series in future seasons. So something good did come out of this lovely mess.

This isn't really a surprise, since I had been away for 45 days, instead it is a sort of making it official. I am leaving tengaged for good because I have just moved on from it. I had a great time over the years, mostly hosting, and I have met some great people on this site.
Obviously I don't have a huge legacy to leave behind in terms of gameplay. However, I am proud of the hosting I have done with Link's Survivor, the 1st Generation produced some epic moments and wonderful characters. Unfortunately I should have just stopped there and my heart was never really in the Second Generation, that isn't to take away anything from the those who played in and the 3 winners were all very worthy but I just felt it never captured the original magic I experienced in generation 1.
I have to give some special shout outs to a whole heap of people (I know I will forget someone so please don't be too offended if that is you). First of all donosaurus_rex we bonded over our shared love of innuendos and without a doubt you were one of the biggest supporters of Link's Survivor and if I could make someone an honorary winner it would be you. Next up Chastain you wear your heart on your sleeve and it is what makes you the awesome person you are and your win in Alaska is probably one of my two favourite wins in my series. The next is LoganWorm you were the first person I really bonded with in the group game world and we started hosting around the same time, I still believe your dedication when you are playing is what helped elevate that first season all those years ago. Leli14 the first 2 time winner in my series and truly one of the nicest people on this site, that is partially what makes you such a good player.
