HUMAN AUCTION
Objective: Bid on fellow players to win the most points!
DEFINITIONS:
VICTOR- The winning bidder(s) on a target for the round.
TARGET- The player you attempt to bid on for the current round.
POOL- Group of players that cannot bid on each other in the upcoming round (Identities will not be known, see GAMEPLAY section)
SETUP:
1. Each player receives 150m yen to use for this game. You are each loaned 100m yen, so enjoy your 50m yen bonus!
2. There are 10 rounds, each lasting 24 hours. After those 10 rounds, there will be a 24 hour buying period to buy more points (see ENDGAME AND PAYOUTS section).
3. No transfers of money are allowed, except through bidding. Bank account transfers are not available during this game.
GAMEPLAY:
1. In each round, players will send the dealer a prioritized list of potential target players to bid on for the current round. (See Section BIDDING DECISIONS/TARGETS)
2. At the start of each round, the dealer will reveal information:
a. The dealer reveals the number of players (but not identities) of each new Pool to the public.
b. The winning Bidder(s) [Victor(s)] of the last round will privately be notified of their status, the identity of the target player they successfully bid on, the amount paid, and the number of points earned.
c. Targets will be privately notified of how much money they received. There is a limit of 20m yen per round, with the rest of the payment being confiscated by the LGT.
3. Players must send a prioritized list of potential targets through mail to the Dealer. Because of how targets are determined, See section BIDDING DECISIONS/TARGETS.
a. All bidding is simultaneous
b. No self-bidding allowed (No bidding on yourself)
c. Bids must be in increments of 1m yen.
4. A Victor forms a Pool with the Target by winning the bid. Pools can form of more than two players.
a. Example: If Alice wins a bid on Bob, and Bob wins a bid on Charlie, then Alice and Bob and Charlie create a Pool for the next round.
5. Bids will be paid to the target
a. If there is only 1 bid, the Victor pays their entire bid to the target
b. If there are multiple bidders, the Victor pays the 2nd highest bid to the target
c. If there is a tie for the winning bid, the first bid submitted wins.
BIDDING DECISIONS/TARGETS
1. Each round, players submit a prioritized list of potential Target players. The dealer will notify you of how many players are required on the list for the current round. (Based on Rule #5 of this section).
a. You may submit a smaller list, but you risk being marked inactive. (See section INACTIVITY)
2. Each potential target may have the same amount bid, or different amounts bid. A bid of 0 is also acceptable.
3. If you were a Victor, your previous target CANNOT be on the list, because you know that target is in your pool.
4. After receiving a bidder’s list, the dealer will disregard all names on the list who are in the same pool as the Bidder. The remaining bid with the highest priority is the Bidder’s Actual target for the round.
a. Note: The Target selection process and identity of the actual target may not necessarily be revealed.
b. If there is a pool of 5 players at the start of the round, the pool restriction is waived for the current round. Victors of the previous round still may not bid on their previous target.
5. In order to avoid being marked inactive, the following size of the Bidder’s list is as follows:
a. Won the bid: Bid on (Size of largest pool – 1) players. Victor cannot bid on their target of the prior round.
b. Lost the bid, was a Target: Bid on (Size of largest pool) players.
c. Lost the bid, was not a Target: Bid on any one player.
d. One pool of 5: Bid on one player. Victor cannot bid on Target of last round.
e. Round 1: Bid on any one player.
POINTS
1. The Victor receives a “Target.name Certificate” if they do not have one already for that player and earns 1 point. Certificates cannot be transferred or Stolen.
2. If the victor already has a certificate of that Target, the Victor instead earns half a point.
3. If a player has a Certificate from all other players, they discard all certificates and trade them to the dealer for 4 bonus points. Players may then begin to re-earn Certificates once again.
4. If the Victor outbids at least 1 other bidder, the Victor earns 1 additional point per bidder defeated.
ENDGAME AND PAYOUTS
1. Once the 10 rounds are over, Players will have a 24-hour Buying Period to purchase additional points.
a. Buying is optional, and no mail is necessary during the Buying Period.
b. Players may use any remaining money on hand and any funds in their Tournament bank account to purchase points.
c. 100m yen buys 9 tenths of a point (0.9 points). No other conversion is allowed.
d. There is a spending limit of 500m yen, meaning that a player can buy up to 4.5 points.
e. The 100m yen loan from the start of the game will be returned after buying.
2. The dealer will reveal the total points of each player and how many points each player bought.
3. The top 2 players with the most points win and proceed to Round 5! In case of ties, the most money on hand wins (Tournament bank account not included). If there is a tie failing to determine the top 2, all tied players lose.
INACTIVITY
1. Inactivity will be public knowledge
2. Each instance of inactivity will deduct the player 1 point
3. 3 instances of inactivity will remove the player from the tournament
4. Players no longer need the removed player’s certificate for owning a complete set of Certificates for bonus points.
