...are kind of going nuts at the moment! Randomize is working on a new algo for detecting multis, and cell phone IPs (which we can manually check) are getting people red noses.
Yes, if this happens to you, we will remove it. Just mail tengaged_moderation and we will manually check to see if it's a phone. However, as you know, this can sometimes take a bit of time, so if you want to be safe, I recommend that you don't login through your phone if you can help it. Will save you trouble! But again, mail us if you get one and you don't believe you should have one and if you're polite and non-bitchy, it will be taken care of. If you're nasty, it might just stay on for a bit longer!
I should also note that we can tell if two logins are on the SAME phone - that's not OK and shouldn't be happening and will be treated as a multi.
Finally, proxies still aren't allowed. We know they're used for cheating/doing each other's challenges. If you don't know what this is, don't worry about it, but if you do, don't do it, please and thank you!
Tchau!
Yaxha - The new automatic tool blacklists you at the same time as it noses you. Another good reason to avoid the cell phones!
xXandytraicyXx - If you're logging on through your home WiFi network, your iPod is just like a computer in your house and shouldn't be a problem. Mobile phone IPs are from your cell phone carrier (AT&T, Virgin Mobile, etc) and you can share that IP address with a number of users in your area who use the same network as you.
superman11 - That's the same thing as logging in from a computer at your school, so yes, if other users log in from computers there, you may get nosed - and those will actually stay on because they aren't cell phone-related.
dannyjr0587 - Yep, it will. Just let us know if you get a nose and we'll remove it if it's a cell phone IP. Randomize is working on filters for these so the problem should go away altogether before long!
WE, the moderators, are no longer going to be touching your noses. A computer checks to see if you share an IP with other users. This computer just looks at the numbers in the address to see if they match with another user. If they do, a nose is put on. People logging in from the same cell phone network will often have matching numbers and so the computer will put a nose on them. Randomize is working on a way to filter these out, but there's no simple way of doing that.
This has nothing to do with me or the other mods, in any case. We do not have access to the back-end programming of the site. I'm just trying to help you avoid the inconvenience of waiting to have it removed. Does this "stupid" explanation make sense to you?
