Dan's fatal flaw Nov 8, 2016
imageDan Gheesling is almost universally considered one of the greatest Big Brother players of all time. There are some that even consider him the best of all time. I feel like he has played two nearly perfect games, but he tends to bathe in blood. Because of this his one problem is Jury management.
In Big Brother 10, the defining moves of the season were both by Dan, wherein he betrayed people he had promised protection. In a season that was more personal than Bb14, the jury appreciated his gameplay enough to give him the win. This is because he did work a small amount of work, and the person sitting next to him didn’t. Dan did what he could to make  the jury happy, and while it both wasn’t very effective and didn’t help his likeability, he was sitting next to Memphis. Memphis basically basked in Dan’s shadow as someone who was supposed to win challenges but never did, and he wasn’t able to convince the jury that he did anything. In Summary, Dan won bb10 unanimously because he had a player who did the same things as him but didn’t own up to it as much sitting next to him
In Bb14, his gameplay is the same, but he failed to adapt to the season. Dan once again bathed in blood, but this time he failed to manage the jury properly. Unlike bb10, the only person he would have unconditionally beaten from the jury in F2 was Frank, who he betrayed. Frank, Britney, and Shane’s bitterness combined with Joe, Ashley, and Jen’s ineptitude made Dan’s victory nearly impossible. He also ended up in final two with Ian, someone who was incredibly well liked by the entire house. Dan’s playstyle itself is why he lost bb14, and It’s a reminder of how dangerous playing his style can be. It leaves many people mad and betrayed, and can cost you a win in the end.
