That is true, but I don't think a vote for either of the top 2 would be a waste as either can win.

Kaitx Oh I don't disagree with that at all. Everyone has a vote, use it wisely. Either one will probably make a decent President, but based on their current and past events, I cannot for the life of me consider voting for Trump or Hillary

Cmack311 I'm fine with that, but if we're just talking about the vote in general... you'll have probably more of an impact voting for the top 2. But it's better to vote for who you feel is best.

The only impact you'll have voting third party is possibly breaking up the 2-party system in the not horribly far future.

Kaitx I firmly believe 2016 will be the last year the 2-party system runs it....this election has made so many people vocal about 3rd party candidates, it just happened way too late

Cmack311 in 1992 the highest third party ever was 18.9%... Gary and Jill are nowhere near that.

Kaitx I'm sure the media wasn't as awful back then with not giving air time to 3rd parties though. Ross Perot got a lot of media attention, thus why he was polling better and ultimately did better
