RANDOMIZE
- Unlimited shops, you have to buy one for say 1000T$ so they still remain exclusive and somewhat hard to get (Limit 1 per user) One time charge excluding rent
- Different districts your shop can be in. Cost more to be in the higher end district (Rodeo, Fifth Ave) or pay less to be in a crappy district (Flea Markets, etc)
- A page with all districts, click a district and a preview of all the stores in that district
- Monthly rent that is sent to your inbox. If you don't pay each month from the day you purchased your shop, it goes out of business, which means you won't be allowed to sell. Have to pay the rent in order to get it back in business
- Unlimited items, but you have to purchase the stock yourself. (MAX 10 stock per item).
- Different designs cost different amounts to stock Eg. Clothes - $100 per stock, Hair $50 per stock
- You earn different amounts of profit determining the district you're in. Eg. Rodeo - Full Profit, The Flea Market - 30%
- Restock option : Purchase more stock of an item that has already been sold in your shop
- After so many sells your shop gets a star level (5 stars max)
- You can sell stuff you already own with no cost (Only how much stock you own)
- Your shop featured on your profile
- Monthly top rankers for the top 5 who sell the most stock
- Ability to "favorite shops" and a page to keep track of your faves
- Shop owners can send out weekly ads to those who favorite their shop
I feel like shops are really boring now, and are so exclusive and hard to get. You pay thousands of T for a shop that might only last a week. With this system there would be more people having shops, more happy people, and more designs. Seems like a more friendly competition than what it is now. I know that we just got Hunger Games and a few other updates, but why stop there? Let's keep this site running more smoothly and more creatively! Obviously if this does happen it will take a fair amount of time to start running, but it's better to start saying something now than never.
EDIT : He responded! So glad that this has been recognized, and glad to have some feedback. He makes great points, and I see where some things are and aren't needed. Hopefully we'll see some of the ideas soon! :)
I love the district idea, but idk how it would work it could work like 4 districts you still need to bid on a shop, the top 3 bidders get a shop in the highest district, the next 3 in the 2nd highest and so on - The highest district has most stock and designs to post, and the lowest has like 3 designs to post and like 15 stock al together or something
lionnudes That could work, but I still feel like nothing would change. People would still be constantly bidding thousands of T$ for one shop. I think allowing everyone at least one shop for a reasonably high price would be better suited, that way more can get a shop without too many people getting one.
I like any idea that will allow more people to have shops and more designs to be available for everyone to purchase. I don't like the fact that people who really want designs and have the T's to purchase them still can't purchase a design because there are not enough posted.
As for a shop owner having to "rent" their shop? We basically do that now when we bid T's to open a shop. Too many shops and designs would mean designs would just sit there and that would not be good. randomize had this to say regarding designs on a blog I did where he commented about designs:
“I personally think stock shouldn't be much higher as designs are one of the most valuable items in the site, keeping design's scarcity ensures they don't get devalued and also gives an important meaning when i.e gifting a design.”

He has increased the designs allowed in shops to 7 and the stock was increased to 35 since he made that comment. I agree that more shops would allow more people to be able to have the experience of being a shop owner and therefore would mean more stock available. I would imagine that Tengaged has enough players to support more shops. I liked your ideas and I am sure that randomize will be reading this blog!
icing It's a very good and well constructed idea. But there's a need to always limit the number of shops and stock available in the site. About the number of shops it will increase proportionally to the number users (it started with 6 and now there're 8 shops). Hopefully the more people enter in the site the more shops will be open in the game and of course once we have many opened shops at the same time I will definitively include many of your ideas which I think are very good, specially the district ones with different levels and categories, with a main visible district and other less visible ones , ads , ranks etc. Basically I like all your points and will keep this post in the TODO list, but this move has to be done in a progressive mode and always proportional to number of users.
etaco75 Those with less T$ would get the flea market if they didn't want to make as much profit back or if they didn't want a higher status. If they paid more for the higher end districts, more $$ back and looks nicer as a whole haha
