Leaves crunch under Stacey as she sprints deeper into the woods. Her lungs fill with oxygen and her heart pumps like it’s never pumped before. Stacey’s eyes tear up as she thinks about her twin lying dead on the highway. Heart broken, she continues to run.
Ghostface walks, and follows the noise of leaves and twigs snapping beneath their prey’s feet. Under the mask the killer grins, adrenaline compels them as they stalk their prey. The hunt has begun.
Stacey hides behind a large tree catching her breath. The alcohol and the thought of her sister’s mangled body causes her to vomit. Dehydrated, she darts her eyes around and sees a dirt road. Stacey runs to the dirt road and follows it hoping for someone to save her from the killer. The dirt road continues deeper into the woods. “Please get me away from here” Stacey cries, tears dripping down her face as she pants down the dirt road. After what feels like forever, she finally sees what the road leads to.
A log cabin. The light is on. Stacey picks up the pace as she runs to the front door and bangs on the door. “PLEASE LET ME IN! THERE’S SOMEONE CHASING ME!” She screams. After no one answers, she opens the unlocked door.Â
Stacey looks in shock to see her English teacher, Joelle Auclair, tied to a wooden chair and duct taped. “Oh my god!” Stacey cries out and runs to free the killer’s captive. Joelle shakes her head and tries to communicate with Stacey. The door closes. Stacey turns to see Ghostface behind the door, with a knife and voice changer.
“KI KI KI MA MA MA” Ghostface chants into the voice changer, tilting their head and walking towards Stacey. Stacey screams, before grabbing a lamp and throwing it at Ghostface. Ghostface grunts. Stacey grabs another wooden chair and throws it at a window causing it to shatter. Ghostface runs to Stacey as she attempts to dive out the window. They grab her neck from behind before slamming her on the windowsill, where a sharp shard of glass slices her cheek. Ghostface turns her over and stabs her in the gut. Joelle watches in horror, unable to scream. Ghostface grabs Stacey’s head and bashes it against the wall and she collaspes. Joelle tries to scream. Ghostface turns to Joelle, wiping the blood off and walks towards her.
Scene TwoÂ
Coco sits in the passenger’s seat, eyes wide and tears streaming down their face. “We’re safe now” Claire stated. Coco didn’t answer, he just looked out the window and at the side mirror. “We need to talk. I’m annoyed, Coco. How many times have I told you Oliver is a bad guy? My heart literally broke when I saw you two in bed together cuddling. How could you do this to me?” Claire argued. Coco sat with guilt and shame, starting to feel his hangover creeping in. “This is not okay Coco. I understand this isn’t a big place with lots of gay people to date, but why would you do this? Wes, Wren, those two would be nice guys for you!” Claire added. “I’ve already told you, Wren creeps me out and Wes and I aren’t like that. What I did is a mistake, I just missed him”, Coco snapped. “I’ll find someone for you Coco, someone nice” Claire responded politely.Â
Coco’s phone pings with a new message.
“Hey Coco, I had fun. Would you want to hang at mine tomorrow?” - OliÂ
Coco looked at the notification and turned his phone screen away, ignoring the message. Claire noticed a police car drive past them, followed by a news van heading towards Brooklyn’s house.
Scene Three
The sun shines, Wes brings a 6 pack from the fridge to his room. Inside, Hoop, Otis and Nick are sitting on the bed. Wes throws each of his friends a can before he sits in his gaming chair. “I can’t believe it. Lacey was found on the highway like that, Stacey’s still missing, Joelle Auclair is also reportedly missing, Shane’s in the hospital and Krista and Minerva are in jail” Wes stated. “Shane should make a recovery though, the knife wound pierced his stomach. Nothing major was damaged. He just needs to heal” Hoop reported, talking about when he went with Shane to the hospital.Â
“We have to figure out who this killer is”, Wes states. “First let’s go over everyone at the party. We were all there. Brooklyn was there and died. Shane was there and stabbed. Coco and Oliver, Claire caught them together, Claire as well” Nick stated. “Also the twins, Isla and Wren” Otis added. “Emily did show up but was rejected, so although she wasn’t there in the building, if she is the killer she could’ve found a way in” Wes stated. “Stacey and Joelle right now are missing. The reporter talked about how my dad found Lacey’s body, but the car was gone, and so was Stacey. Right now he’s talking to the Sheriff of Pinehaven to see if they can find a car matching Stacey’s” Hoop explained. “I think it could be Joelle, though she is short the boots the killer wears could add a few inches and make her a reasonable height” Otis pointed out. “Or Oliver”, Wes added. “But Coco was with Oliver?” Nick questioned. “Yes, but if Coco fell asleep, that gives Oliver the perfect alibi to sneak out, don the costume, kill Brooklyn, make the phone call somewhere private, and stab Shane” Wes explained. The guys continued their theories, sipping away at their beer. With little evidence, it was hard for all to agree on a single person.
Scene Four
The town gathers in the college’s football field stands. Photos of the Bank’s family, Jon Ryan, Rinnie Fischer, Brooklyn Lane and Lacey Morris sit on the field, with dozens of handwritten cards and bouquets of flowers surrounding them. The mayor of Gorebrook begins talking about the loss this town has.
Coco sits with most of his friends, sobbing at the deaths of classmates and locals he’s grown up with. Sheriff Dancer sits off to the side, scanning the crowd for anything peculiar.
The Sheriff’s phone rings. He checks the caller ID: Unknown.
“Looking for me?”, the raspy voice taunts.
“I will catch you.”
“Little ol’ me? First you have to figure out which of Coco’s friends I’ll slaughter tonight! Coco himself? Protective friend Claire? Lovebirds Nick or Isla? Goofball Otis? Mr Cautious Shane? Preppy boy Wren? Horror nerd Wes? Or your son, Hoop?”
Ghostface cackles, Sheriff Dancer shivers after hearing his son’s name.
“Leave them alone, come after me. I’ll put a bullet between your eyes before that hunting knife of yours can come close to me”
“Chelsea said something familiar. I can’t exactly remember, because she’s dead. I’m in the audience. Watching you. Stalking you. I’m lurking in every shadow. Until you die, you’re never safe. Just like Stacey and Joelle!”Â
“Tell me where they are!”
“They’ll be right here in the football field, at midnight. Better come help them. Killing Glenn in his bed was so much fun. He woke up as I was gutting the poor man!”
“You sick son of a bitch!”
“Tick tock Sheriff. They don’t have much longer to live”
Ghostface hangs up.
Sheriff Dancer looks carefully around the audience, not noticing anyone on their phone.
Scene Five
Night time approaches, hours after the memorial, Sheriff Dancer is the last one in his office. He looks down at his watch. Not long till midnight.
Back at Claire’s house, Coco receives a call from an unknown number.
“Enjoying the movie?”Â
“Killing me and my friends? You really are one sick fuck!”
“Almost as sick as sleeping with an ex”
“You’re very knowledgeable. Who are you?”
The sheriff leaves his office, locking the door behind him. He makes sure his gun is loaded before entering his car. He sends a text to his son Hoop.Â
“Where are you?” - Logan
“With Wes. I’ll have a couple drinks then walk home” - Hoop
“Stay with Wes, I don’t want you alone tonight” - Logan
“Okay dad. Be safe, I’m worried about you. Ever since this started, you haven’t been the same. I know you and Glenn were good friends” - Hoop
Sheriff Dancer hopped in his car and sends a quick text to Wes.
“Call me if anything suspicious happens while you or Hoop are drinking, be safe” - Logan
Meanwhile, Coco continues his phone call.
“I’m one of your good friends Coco! Can’t you tell? I thought you would know me better!”
“I don’t understand. Why are you doing this?”
“I’m the director of this movie Coco! You love horror movies, haven’t you always wanted to be in one yourself?”
“But this is real”
“Oh, it’s very real Coco. What’s your favourite scary movie?”
“Fuck off”
“Oh no Coco, that is the wrong answer! You know what that means!”
Sheriff Dancer walked out to the football field. He saw Ghostface sitting in a chair, holding the hunting knife. Beside him was Stacey Morris, her shirt covered in blood. She lays on the ground, breathing heavily. Stacey needed medical attention immediately. She shakily moved her hand towards Sheriff Dancer. Sheriff Dancer, filled with anger, pointed the gun right at Ghostface and fired it.
Meanwhile, Coco was frozen in fear.
“You’re gonna kill me? I thought I was the main character!”
“That’s correct. I’m afraid one of your supporting friends just did not make it through their scene alive!”
Ghostface hangs up the phone.
Back at the football field, Ghostface’s body slumps over, dead. Sheriff Dancer walked over to Stacey Morris, she had died already from blood loss. “Who was behind this massacre?” Sheriff Dancer cried out, and unmasked the killer. Sheriff Dancer stared at his son’s dead eyes. Blood dripped from the bullet wound in his forehead…
His phone buzzes.
“I’m not with Hoop?” - Wes
Scene Six
“This is Sasha Noells with finally, positive update on the Gorebrook Slasher. It seems as though the town can finally heal as police have confirmed, only an hour ago Sheriff Logan Dancer fatally shot the killer. But in a shocking twist, it was none other than his own son, Hoop Dancer”, Sasha began. Paramedics wheel three body bags on stretchers past the cameras. “Stacey Morris was also found dead at the scene, and Sheriff Dancer unfortunately did not survive the killer’s final attack on him. Police have discovered an address in the killer’s costume, believed to be the location of Hoop Dancer’s lair, a small log cabin off the highway not far from where Lacey Morris was found dead. When police arrived on scene, Joelle Auclair was found alive in the cabin strapped to a chair. Finally, our little town can rest easy knowing that the Gorebrook Slasher has met his timely end. Sasha Noells, signing off”, Sasha finished.Â
Scene SevenÂ
Coco’s phone rings, and he sees that it’s Nick.
Coco looked at his phone.
“Hey Nicky what’s up?”
“Hoop was under the mask, but the killer called me around the time Hoop was killed. Something’s fishy. This can’t be over.
“Plus when I was attacked and Jon was killed, Hoop and Otis were with me. This isn’t over”
