There's this guy (we'll call him Steve) who has only worked where I work for a few months... They had an opening to be promoted to the next level and he put in for it. A few weeks later a rumor started that they'd hired someone else for the position, some dude from Texas.

I had to work with Steve a few days ago and I told him about the rumor I'd heard about them hiring someone from the outside instead of promoting from within. Since he applied for the position he started getting really irate. He started saying that that was just a rumor and he knew who had started it. He started tossing papers onto the ground. I had no idea what was going on. I told him that I'd heard it on pretty good authority (my mom is really close with one of the ladies in the HR department) and he started getting even angrier. Even stopping doing the work we were supposed to do and storming out into the hallway.

At first I was going to follow him, but figured I should probably at least finish what I was working on. After a few moments he brought our supervisor back with him! The supervisor started asking me why I was spreading rumors! He scolded me for spreading a lie and warned me that it could upset people who were interested in the position! LOL I was like, "What?!" (Keeping in mind, several other people knew about them hiring an outsider for the position, it wasn't just me who knew)....

Anyway, today they announced the new lead... it's some dude... from Texas.

Fuckers. What kind of psycho freaks out AT work and tells on someone just for SUGGESTING that they may not have gotten the promotion!?
