Top 10 Tuesdays: Top 10 Film Characters Who Should Run For President

Jan 13, 2017 by PowerRankings101
imageSo, I know it’s a few days late, but I wanted to give a top 10 for the week. This week, I thought I’d do a fun list! Seeing as how Inauguration Day is coming up, I thought it’d be fun to list 10 film characters that should run for President. Some are fiction, some are based on real people, and some are downright ridiculous. Any suggestions, please write below!

Honorable Mentions: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars), Ellen Ripley (Alien), James Bond (The James Bond Series)

10. Mickey Mouse (Classic Disney Cartoons)- He’s the face of Disney. He’s been keeping the Disney business afloat, so why couldn’t he keep our country afloat?! He’s someone who’d look great on any dollar bill and seeing as how he’s the only animated character on this list AND the only animal, you get to make history twice in one election! That’s pretty cool.

9. Chesley Sullenberger (Sully)- He may not want the spotlight, which is the issue, but talk about heroic. He saved so many people in what could have been a tragically terrible plane crash, but what turned out to be a perfect landing on the Hudson River. Sullenberger is someone who didn’t want to be a hero, but ended up being one. A president should have authority but stay humble, and there is no man as humble as Sully himself.

8. Red (The Shawshank Redemption)- Listen, yes he went to jail, but if anyone came out of Shawshank a better man, it was Red. He was one of the better prisoners anyway, but as soon as he got out, he was respectful, passionate, and full of lessons learned. I think his honesty is something that would make him a heck of a leader, like Honest Abe himself, and his never ending passion and strength is something I think most Americans would admire.

7. Miranda Priestly (The Devil Wears Prada)- She IS the boss. She’s already had the authoritative role, and she is someone no one wants to mess with. Her power is inevitable, but we do see how she does have some heart. The fact that she is intimidating on the outside, but still warmer on the inside makes her a pretty bad ass woman and someone who would truly succeed in yet another power position. She’d also keep the white house looking stylish and fresh, which is something we wouldn’t be opposed to.

6. Paul Rusesabagina (Hotel Rwanda)- He might be a hotel manager from Rwanda, but if the rules were bent to let non-American citizens into the position, I’d totally choose Rusesabagina. He saved so many people, and was an incredible hero in a massive genocide that actually happened. He was heroic, and that’s someone that people admire, and admiration is important for whoever may be in office. You want a man or woman who is for the PEOPLE, and that is exactly what Paul is.

5. Atticus Finch (To Kill a Mockingbird)- Forget anything Harper Lee’s second book said about him being racist. In “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Finch is one of the smartest people and would share lots of wisdom with the country. I know he is a little more traditional and not up to modern day standards, but his values and life lessons are some that would make for some excellent speeches indeed.

4. Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark)- He’s saved many people, and he’s pretty bad ass, and we even saw that as he aged, he still kept his poise, and his action ability. He’s also incredibly smart, and would definitely add for a lot of knowledge in the White House. Maybe not the best candidate if the gardens are filled with snakes, but seeing as how the Obamas kept it, it should be nothing but beautiful garden vegetables and color. SNAKE FREE.

3. Captain Kirk (Star Trek)- He’s already a Captain. A leader. Leadership is most important, and to lead a whole star fleet is no hard task. To lead a country, he’d have a perfect balance of wisdom, power, and sincerity, and he’s someone who is so well rounded, and is never seen as the bad guy. He’s always heroic in everything he does, and leading a country would be a big feat, but not anything unordinary for him.

2. Annie Hall (Annie Hall)- Not many people have seen Woody Allen’s classic “Annie Hall,” and if you have, you know that Annie is a very strong, independent woman, and has a very good idea of her position and her well-being. She makes decisions that are the right thing, not necessarily the desired thing, and for someone to make a tough decision like that, they can make decisions for the country.

1. Captain America (Marvel Cinematic Universe)- This is probably the no brainer pick right here. He is a hero. He is a leader. He IS America. No one else better fit to lead the country as the man who literally wears red, white, and blue every single day. While he was involved in a recent Civil War, I feel like he’d be a wiser man for that, and would make sure America would stay protected and extra safe. He’s a man about unity, and trying to do what’s best for the people. He’s not only a superhero, but started from the bottom, so he can see all sides of the coin. He’s lived a heck of a life, and would be a great leader for sure.
