Jessica Mauboy first began her music career on the 4th season of Australian Idol. She was the runner-up losing to Damien Leith.
After Idol, she joined the group Young Divas, which received moderate success. After one year with Young Divas, she decided to work on a solo career.
Her first single off of her album, Been Waiting, was "Running Back" featuring American-rapper Flo Rida. This single reached number 2 on the charts. Her album failed to debut within the top 10 of the top albums charts. This did not affect her, as she put out a second single. "Burn" skyrocketed to the number one spot on the charts. In early 2009 she released her third single, "Been Waiting", this song is currently on the charts. Jessica's fourth single "Because" is scheduled to be released on June 5th.
Jessica Mauboy has also broke in international countries. After releasing her album in Australia she then released her album in Japan. She is now scheduled to release her album in the UK sometime in 2009. As for her career in the USA, it is still unknown, but she is in talks for debuting in the USA.
